[ b ] Death Walking (Death Hunter & ???)

Post by rexcorvus »

In a small clearing, near the edge of a forest, Death Hunter stood alone save for his ever faithful dragons. One of them was perched on his back, while the other - the longer, more elegant one - floated serenely beside his head, giving off the faint scent of florals every now and then.

"Anyone yet?" murmured a soft voice from somewhere behind the trio, but Death Hunter shook his head, hair ghosting across his cheek. His oldest son was half hidden behind a cluster of oaks, long tail curved protectively around himself.

"Soon," said Death Hunter, and then he added, "hopefully."

And soon it was.

The wolf arrived, padding casually into the clearing with bright eyes and a curled tail. It stopped, regarding the buck with far more intelligence than a wolf had any right to. Which made perfect sense when seconds later the wolf was no longer there and instead a stag was in its place.

“Well, then,” he said, voice polite and cordial. “I’m here.”

His head lifted to watch the wolf pace in front of him, and Death Hunter's eyes were wary as he took in the sight. He didn't react as the wolf disappeared and the stag took its place except for a slight flicker in his gaze that showed he was paying attention.

"What is your name?" he asked.
