Obsessor Was in a fine predicament. Or at the suffering hands of fate. Somehow out of the very clear blue skies, a honey hive broke apart and a sticky honeycomb made a fine mess on his left backside. On the way to a nearby stream, he stubbed his toe which sent him hurling into the banks of fuzzy cattails. Obsessor eyed the water suspiciously for what awaited him. He wanted to shower but at what cost? Indecision flitted across his face, and after a small eternity of back and forth, he was no better than when he started.

It was, perhaps, the beauty of honey that placed it among Be Afraid's favorite things. The process, the color, the smell, the taste. It was a symbol of nature's workings. So, when he got the opportunity to have some, he took it.

He caught the smell while on a walk from the thicker parts of the swamp. Freshly spilled honey, by a river. Be Afraid heaved a breathe in, his eyes following his nose to find the trail. With a wave of his feathered tail, the kimeti trudged through the thick foliage.

The buck narrowed his eyes when the trail led to another, standing by the aforementioned river. Upon closer inspection, he saw the dripping honey amongst the dripping markings on his hind, topped with the fuzz of many cattails. A smirk spread over his many teeth. What a predicament. Be Afraid waved his voluminous tail with interest as he made himself known and stepped forward.

"I don't think the water will bite more than those bees could." he mused, his smirk hanging on his words a little.

My, what a smile that was and all teeth. Obsessor blinked back some honey that threatened to creep into his vision were it not for his luscious eyelashes. Unsure if the unknown buck was friend or foe, he froze hoping it would buy him time. Did fate send this buck his way, too? Divination wasn't his strength but something tugged at the back of his mind that perhaps this wasn't an idle encounter. Uncertain, but knowing he had to make a move, Obsessor played it safe and answered the stranger.

"I'm pretty sure that's what caimans would say if they could speak." He knew he was staring but in his mind he told himself he was merely assessing the risks of the situation. The buck blurted out, "How many eyes can you see out of?"

This wasn't the first time Be Afraid heard this question. And it wouldn't be the last. Though, he didn't mind it so much from such an interesting buck. An ear flicked, followed by a part of his tail, almost unconsciously. "Enough of them, to be sure," he hummed. Kin didn't usually stay this still in his presence. That was reserved, typically, for the small things. The prey things. Be Afraid walked a circle around the buck.

The plumed buck found his way all the way back around to stand facing the other. He leaned in, closely, his golden eyes trained intently. A minor pause was followed by a quick inhale, a sniff. The honey was much stronger now, standing right in front of him. "You seem to be having an adventurous day," Be Afraid commented, tone turning up to present his question.

He immediately clamped down his jaw before giving the errant thought life. That was an intrusive thought. It was cringe, but interesting in where his thoughts were. Hope was a fascinating thing. It started out small but fan the flames correctly, it just might catch. He pivoted somewhat unsuccessfully.

"When it rains, it really pours. I wouldn't mind it raining now to wash away the honey. I've always enjoyed napping or quiet moments in the rain. Unfortunately, the clouds don't seem to be acquiescing. Coyly looking through his lashes, he asked "Wanna help a stranger out? Will you keep watch for any attacking caimans? It would be an adventure! And I could give you some carrots for your trouble. They've orange root vegetables supposedly good for your many eyes."

And if the buck declined, surely there was something he could give. He would make it work somehow. He was determined and smiled inwardly.

(Total writer's block so the writing and thought is clunky. Trying to power through)

This buck was very intriguing. It wasn't often that something held Be Afraid's attention for so long. And he smelled so good. He took a step forward, meeting the eye of this other buck. Perhaps this amusing buck might be more entertaining if he was a little bold.

He moved to close the distance in longer strides. Soon enough, he was fully face to face with the buck. "Sure, but first," he murmured, trailing off. Be Afraid leaned forward, sniffed, and a dark tongue peeked from his maw and dragged across a patch of honey hanging onto the edge of the buck's shoulder scale. He let out a satisfied hum as he pulled back, and glanced at the river. A gentle chuckle followed, regarding the carrots.

"Go on, then. I will keep watch," Be Afraid called, pointing his snout to the gently running river and giving his full tail a flick or two.

Obsessor chuckled darkly. Something unnamed thrilled him and it traveled down his spine for a full body experience. Clearly, he was getting the better deal. Carrots for whatever this was. He thought about a catchy response but was tongue tied after the other buck sampled the honey that drenched him. That was an invitation in itself. Throwing caution to the wind, he thanked the MotherFather for the day and even the series of accidents as it meant he met this buck. Never one to rebuff the fates, he took a large gamble. And he just had a hunch that it was going to pay off handsomely. Almost as handsome as the other kimeti.

"My life is in your grasp" the buck promised solemnly as he descended to the lifegiving waters.
