He stood at the edge of a forest, and waited.
He knew very little about the concept of childrearing, though his father had many and Thornwood's siblings were so numerous he'd lost count of them all. But he had none of his own, and it made him feel a little unsteady, a little overwhelmed at the possibilities of all that could go wrong.
Too much, said his mind. Too much could happen.
He closed his eyes and breathed in. Then he breathed out, a long exhale, and looked up at the sky, waiting and wondering.
