She moved through the glade with the effortless of a kin who did not have any cares in the world, her hooves barely touching the ground. Patches of sunlight left dappled markings across her back, rendering her nearly iridescent; it was a look she found pleasing, even if she hardly noticed it at the present moment. Her mind was moving back and forth over the knowledge that she would soon not be alone in the world, that she would soon be surrounded by more than just herself.
It was a strange feeling; she had lived alone for so long that she wasn't entirely certain she could be around others, let alone be a proper mother to a clutch of squalling babies. Wreathed had been a pleasant distraction, a lovely figure she had found herself staring at when his long, elegant tresses had caught a fracture of moonlight as he turned to look at her. She still remembered the way his eyes had glittered, smooth face a little curious, and it had snagged on her heart like a thorn.
Now here she was, the consequences of her own actions. Tomorrow slowed to a stop in a clearing atop a hill, letting herself breathe. Her eyes drifted upwards towards the sun and back down again as it slowly sank into the horizon, spreading warmth across the swamp in its wake. It would be night soon; she should find shelter and sleep, but she couldn't, not yet.
Not before she found some answers.
Real Big Fish felt pulled to this spot. She found somewhere nice to watch the sunset most days. Why wouldn't she? Every sunset was beautiful in its own right, and she loved watching it sink slowly into the water or under the horizon. Tonight, she'd been compelled to climb a hill and watch from there- and when the show was over, she realized why. She wasn't alone up here. There was a doe, an acha, who seemed to be waiting for her. Or maybe for someone else- but definitely somebody
