[PRP] Making waves [Dusk Wave/Brother Shark]

Post by Beejoux »

Continued from here

Hoof beats alerted him to Dusk's pursuit, but Brother Shark didn't stop until the other buck was level with him, glaring at him. He chuckled softly, head tilting as he listened to what Dusk had to say. "And why would I do that?" He asked, amused, before stepping in closer to the grey buck. "And why would I do that?"

Shark moved to brush past him, close enough their shoulder's touched. "You're both so much fun. Why should deny myself of that?"

[PRP] Making waves [Dusk Wave/Brother Shark]

If there was any common sense left, Dusk would've walked away from this situation long ago. He would've taken leave long before he could've dug his hole any further and would've had a nice long sulk somewhere private before ultimately sucking it up and going back to the market.

But since that option had left sometime during the capture of fish three, instead Dusk slammed his shoulder into Brother Shark's, a scowl across his face.

"He isn't-" Dusk paused, taking care to not shove his hoof in his mount a second time. "We aren't just - toys for your amusement. Do what you want, but if you're just going to play with Fierce then -"

Words failed him for a moment, but stubbornly, he moved to stand in the other buck's path. That would get the message across.

Dusk didn't seem the aggressive sort, so the slam to his shoulder was unexpected, made his stagger a little before getting his feet back under him properly. Glowing eyes narrowed back at the other buck, briefly, before those protests earned Dusk another toothy smile. Probably not what he was wanting in that moment, but Shark couldn't help it.

These bucks were fun.

Dusk had blocked his path, filled the tail of his protest with subtext loud enough to ring through the silences. "I could play with you." He stepped closer again, but this time not enough to fully invade his personal space. "You seem like you could use a bit of fun, unwind a bit." He chuckled.

"Or maybe you should play with him, since you're so worried about what I might do."

[PRP] Making waves [Dusk Wave/Brother Shark]

Dusk was hating this interaction more and more by the moment. No matter what he did, no matter what he said, the other buck just kept on grinning. Nothing Dusk could do affect him, he seemed to continually have the upper hoof. It was enough to make Dusk scream - which he wouldn't do, since it was still winter market and there were others around.

But he was sorely tempted.

He grimaced at Brother Shark stepping forward, but refused to back away. "No," He said flatly, refusing to even entertain the concept of being with the other buck. Being with Fierce on the other hand...

Dusk gave a snort. "He wouldn't - he doesn't like me like that." It was the bitter truth, seeing how Fierce had acted at the booth. Even if Dusk wanted, which. Well. There was no point in exploring that now.

The flat refusal had the teal buck laughing -- Dusk was having a bad time, but Shark certainly seemed to be enjoying himself. Glowing eyes lingered on the other buck's face at the insistence that he and Fierce weren't involved. Tat Fierce wasn't interested. Shark scoffed softly. He'd seen the pair of them together, felt the tension in the air. It hadn't felt one sided to him. "You sure?" This time it was more mild, the biting tone cooled.

That long tail of his flicked, the sun painting highlights across it's length as it settled around his ankles again. He let the question rest between them for a moment, let it sink in, before he looked back over his shoulder Feirce's booth. "If he's not, why's it matter if I take my chances?" His brows arched with the inquiry. "Or why don't you move on and live a little?"

Dusk scowled at Shark's laughter, but he could do nothing in response except meet the other's gaze. For a minute, he didn't feel irritated - just mostly a profound, somewhat exhausted, ache. It lessened some at Shark's soft question, faded back to where he had been keeping it, but it didn't entirely disappear. He wasn't sure how to reply to the question when it was less biting, seemingly more genuine. Less so as drink from before was slowly beginning to make its way out, leaving him a little less brash.

For a long moment he stared at Shark, simply - considering. The other buck wasn't wrong, really - if Fierce wasn't interested (and Dusk was fairly certain he wasn't, no matter what Shark seemed to keep on implying) then why was Dusk doing this? He could keep protesting but his dignity had left quite some time ago, and Dusk wasn't blind. How every kin from the Cres managed to be good looking was beyond him, but Brother Shark was no exception.

Maybe it was a rather rapid change from his previous attitude, but Dusk somehow couldn't find it in himself to fight much more. He felt weirdly vulnerable and he simply shook his head, letting out a sigh. "Yeah," He said, "Alright. Maybe I should... live a little."

It was such a shift from the angry defiance he'd been excepting from the other buck that for just a moment Shark was too surprised to respond beyond the sudden arch or dark brows. His ear flicked forward, then relaxed again as he took a step closer to Dusk, his head tilting curiously. He had just suggested Dusk quit moping around and live a little, but he didn't think the buck would actually listen.

What he didn't understand was how the other buck didn't see what he could see. The obvious tension between Dusk and Fierce, that sense he got around the both of them that there was more going on than either were saying. Or even realized, it seemed.

Maybe it was wrong to step between the .

Maybe it was the kick in the flank one or the other needed to do something about all those unresolved feelings. If they were really there. He concerned to himself that there was the chance he really was reading the situation wrong.

Either way, as things stood, why not practice what he was preaching and have a little fun. Dusk didn't have to spend the rest of the day wallowing in bad feelings.

Shark looked him up and down again, then jerked his head towards the path that led away from the booths. "Wanna go for a walk?"
