◆ ABOUT

What is Defendent?
Defendent is an amalgamation of two words: defend and dependent. Fierce Warrior, head of Defendent, came up with it during a particularly rough period of time where he was trying to figure out what he wanted from life (and possibly after a late night sparring session with his daughter where he'd drunk too much). The two concepts of defending and depending are very important to him, and ultimately was what he decided he wanted to focus on since this how he's chosen to center his life.

What does Defendent do?
Defendent is a slightly unusual tribe in that its main focus is specifically to center a kin's physical health, as well as their mental health, as its primary goal. This is not exercise, but self defense and physical training in order to gain strength and ability to protect oneself and one's loved ones. There are multiple times in a kin's life where they will need to physically defend themselves and Defendent aims to prepare them for just such moments. That being said, there is also a focus on mental strengthening as well. Fighting and combat is a crucial part of the tribe so if your kin is uncomfortable with that, this may not be the best place for them.

Is Defendent an exclusive tribe?
Defendent is not an exclusive tribe; you can be a part of both Defendent and another tribe, or multiple tribes, whatever fits your kin best. They are also partners with The Crescent Bay tribe, as Fierce Warrior remains a member of them as well and uses his abilities to try and protect both tribe borders.

Where is Defendent located?
The tribe is at the edge of the swamp, bordering The Crescent Bay on one side. There is a forested, brackish area to the west and a more flat area to the north.

Are there any prerequisites to joining Defendent?
No; any kin of any species can join at any time. There are also areas for younger kin to learn as well, should they wish to participate.

Is this a fight club?
We don't talk about that.

◆ POSITIONS

Post by kuropeco »

INITIATES
Beginner, uncertain of your strength, still working on figuring out who you are. There is never any weakness in being less physically capable than others; one of the main themes of the tribe is to ensure that all kin are able to feel strength.

CONFIDANTS
Experienced; you understand the concepts and can assist others. You can teach those who understand less or who are struggling that they are not alone and that they too will eventually be able to be strong.

GUARDIANS
You are in charge of patrolling the tribe borders and making sure the tribe is safe. Fierce relies on you to make sure that those lesser in power or strength are taken care of and is depending on you for your loyalty and quick thinking. These kin are likely to be more on the physical side of strong and can take care of themselves and others without hesitation.

DEFENDENTS
Everyone in the tribe is expected to help gather food and supplies from various places in the swamp in order to provide and care for everyone. This is the dependent aspect in play; it is understood that true strength lies not just with an individual, but the ability to reliably depend on another for help and support. There is a gathering area where food is stored, and kin are invited to contribute and pull their weight in whatever way they can. If they are less physically capable of some duties, there are always others that can be taken on, such as watching over the younger members, storing and preserving food, taking care of the wounded, telling stories, etc.
