Image  Don't You Dare had grown closed off from others as he grew, wanting less and less to do with other kin and their company, and instead inviting in solitude and it suited him very much. Until it didn't. Until he showed up with his charm and easy laugh. His demeanor undoing all that Don't had put up over the years with ease. No other kin had managed what Stars had. To convince him that not every kin was bad, and out to get him.  Not that he really thought that it was just easier to behave that way, to get the solitude he craved. Or thought he craved. Everything was turned on its head since meeting Stars, and he didn't think he knew up from down at this point.

Still, their time was coming to a close it felt like, and he was out of sorts. He did something he didn't normally do, and he left the little area he called his sanctuary, and went searching for something. He didn't know what it was he was looking for, until she found him, and his heavy heart.

Looking up at the pale mare before him, he was stunned by Guardian of Life, and he stared up at her with wide eyes before he found himself at her hooves, tears down his face and he cried quietly. She bent over him to soothe him and murmured soft noises till he calmed. Finally when he could talk, he did, quietly. Of the pale buck who while snarky, was tender with him. Who'd managed to work his way into his life, and steal his heart away....and he was leaving, and he didn't know what to do. How to say goodbye.  How to handle the new things he could feel that weren't just feelings!

A few questions later and she learned of the pink and blue flower he'd eaten, and she smiled, explaining why he was feeling so out of sorts, and for more than just the other bucks leaving. It made him cry again, for another reason entirely. After talking for awhile, and explaining things, he seemed calmer, more accepting of whatever might happen. Even if he really wasn't.

"May the MotherFather bless your children with the grace to accept things that may come up as a surprise, much as they are to you, and the tenacity to hang onto what they find important in their lives. Much, as I hope you do too." she gave him a warm smile, and sent him on his way, to try to catch the buck who'd stolen his heart, before he got too far away, assuming he wasn't waiting in bewilderment for the hermit to return to his den.
