Every Storm a Serenade was not herself. That was the only explanation. It started with an overly colorful buck that brought out the ghastly side of her. And so there she was wandering the terrain by her lonesome because if she waited any longer, he would be beside her and she would never get some rest. She needed time and quiet to collect her thoughts. The first half was finding a legendary but the most challenging leg of the journey would be asking the legendary for a blessing. If she were lucky, they would oblige, but kin were weird now. They were fickle as the weather she was named after. You never knew. And so she sauntered down the path to the nearest watering hole to quench her thirst and ask around.

The watering hole had been a perfect place for a rest which was why she'd submerged herself within its depths as soon as she'd had the chance. It was a far cry from the ocean but, despite evolution providing her with the ability to forego water for a time, she still far preferred it.

The feeling of need, however, had not been quite to her liking. She'd wanted a chance to frolic for a moment but it seemed the Motherfather was calling her to duty. Languidly, she propelled herself to the surface and poked her head out of the water. And then, because she could, she let out a keening wail and waited.

She gulped deeply and without a care in the world. In her new state, she consumed more water and she was always famished. She was not afraid. She was too thirsty to feel fear. And so when she moved to the side for deeper water, she may have licked something soft and smooth. She opened her eyes and saw that it was an orca head. And it peered at her. Oh crap

The shock shattered Breach's concentration and suddenly there was no whale shark. Instead, there was a mare staring at the doe, incredulous.

"You must be exhausted," she found herself saying, unsure of what to even think.
