she was fearful, and skittish, so she ran from everything that came near
coward, shouted the voices who were spurned by her. weakling, they hissed as she sprinted off
but for the few, gentle others who came to know her, the few that showed her kindness
they simply called her timorous

sand beneath his hooves as the sun
sets
sinks
and
settles
behind the water
a wave rolls in, water pooling around him
calling him
claiming him

He steps forward
Into the sea
