She'd tried to outrun winter knowing that the ache would drive her home and so she was tired and cranky when she flew into the frigid temperatures of an extra harsh winter in the swamp. She squawked, indignant, and fluffed out her fur and feathers that littered her gryphon form. It was the cold that drove her towards the kin in need. The incessant task of blessings never seemed to ebb but at least in this case she might find someone to burrow under a moment.

He was from the dessert, not the place of cold. He specifically was not born a Totoma and did not own the heavy coat, the resilient horn or hooves. He had his own magnificent coat but it was ill equipped for the frigid air. Winter was his least favorite season. And yet, he found the most delightful way to pass it and such was the reason for his current predicament. He was cold, alone, and irritable. But not stupid enough to come back empty handed. Responsibilities and all that. He owed it to his companion at the very least.

And so when he heard loud squawking, he thought the very best- food had arrived at his hooves. He busted through the icicles laden bush at the source of the cacophonous sound!

Lull in Sunlight dove at the slightly shaggy acha as it barreled through the bush and then thought better of it by transforming into a mare. She couldn't quite stop the shiver that assaulted her from the cold air and she groaned as her body solidified. It was practically freezing now.

"I should peck you within an inch of your life for thinking of eating me," she groused at the kin.

With an audible click, Trip the Light Fantastic closed his mouth but not before darting a remorseful look at his hooves. Darn. It would have been nice to have a snack. He wasn't the best at hunting. And he was weary from the long journey. He traveled so long and it was damn cold, the ground was hard and the sleeping spots unrelenting and few between. The acha stopped its pity party to realize the gryphon was shivering and it spoke.  Well, it transformed into a Mare and then it spoke.

"You must be freezing!!!! Which form is warmer?" He blurted that out, almost forgetting why he was looking for a legendary in the face of a cool change.

"This one, by far," she told him without explanation. It really didn't need one. She had a short coat and no furs to blanket herself in whereas the gryphon form offered feathers. The owlcat wasn't terribly different from her mare form when it came to warm although it had a much smaller body that could burrow into old dens.

His teeth started to chatter. He wasn't built for the cold and he wanted out as soon as possible. The acha wanted nothing more than to burrow in some warm furs or bonfires himself, but he had a goal and he would not be distracted. Trying his hardest he focused on his intentions and thoughts. He squared back his shoulder, puffed out his chest a little, but not too much to let the legendary think he was spoilering for a fight or a cocky kin, he forced his teeth to stop chattering.

"I have a request. It's really cold here so let's cut to the chase. I need a blessing. Please." He almost forgot the last part, oh motherfather!

Oh, good. Lull did not have the energy to stand here and freeze her ass off while someone in need beat around the bush. Oh no.

"What is it you want for your children?" she asked, shoulders rising as she attempted to suppress a shiver that ran down the length of her spine.

"I want to be warm. I mean. I want them to have better temperature regulation than a lowly acha such as myself. And I want them to be healthy upon arrival of course and like water repelling from a swan or duck's back, I would like for them to be impervious to insults, negativity, and bad words. But mostly, I want them to be sturdy, hardy, and never feel the biting cold if they can help it. So maybe bless them with ability to build really great fires or homes? Is that too much to ask for?"

Trip the Light Fantastic was rambling and he liked to blame it on the cold, but really the clutch was his first and a reflection of things he wanted in light. He wanted them to have a better start than he did.

"Your children shall never go cold and will be healthy all their lives; they shall be shielded from insults and negativity. They shall also have a special affinity for finding fire salamanders," Lull in Sunlight offered and then shifted back to being a gryphon. She flapped her wings and then deposited herself on the acha's furry back, spreading herself out to shield him from the cold but more importantly steal some warmth for herself.

Trip bid goodbye to the fleeting form and made his own quick escape. Hopefully a warm bonfire waited for him back home.
