Visions of sugar fairies danced in his head.

Visions of sugar dragons danced in his head.

Visions of fairy dragons danced in his head.

They danced through the sky beautifully, almost identically to the way they had when he'd wandered into their home in the forest that curious afternoon when he'd met the young blossom. Majestic and beautiful wings opened wide as the fairy dragon soared through the sky, playfully gliding through the currents of air with no effort. He felt in awe as he watched them, and as he felt the air under his wings he felt the freedom that came with it.

Wait. Wait just a moment...

His eyes looked around him. Glowing and curious, he found himself with eyes widening. A whole colony of fairy dragons swarmed around him as he flew, spinning and frolicking with him as if in unison as they all flew through the treetops and around the forest. He felt as though he was part of something familiar to him, something important to him. He felt as if he was with his family. Each one of these fairy dragons represented something important, a bright light in his life. A bright star in the sky.

In these realizations, he also realized that he wasn't simply watching them this time. No, had taken flight with them. He was one of them. He was part of them.

The colony of the fairy dragons flew around with curiosity, investigating everything around them with such vigor. He followed the colony, copying their movements in a way that had become much more natural than when he last observed them. The colony had a mission, and that mission was clear... absolute and utter curiosity.

This particular plant looked interesting, and quickly Stargarden felt his paws giving the branch a good shake. What would fall down for him? What prize would he find? He would found discover a berry had been freed by his efforts, and he quickly devoured it whole. Around him, other fairy dragons began mimicking him and claiming their prize as well. He flexed his spine with pride as he stretched before he took to the skies again.

He didn't fly around long before he caught sight of several fairy dragons gathering around the same spot on the ground. This mound of dirt looked new. He found himself digging at the ground as if there was treasure under the surface. Around him, other fairy dragons joined in. It wasn't long before the group was rewarded with a pile of buried seeds! Who had left these here for them? They frolicked with joy before all grappling for a pawful or even a mouthful in some cases.

Sounds from around them sparked an immediate flight. The colony all retreated from the sound, perching up in the tree canopy as they all looked down at the ground with both curiosity and caution. Nothing came from the sound, and darkness began to fall, and the stars came out. This left Stargarden with one thought: Perhaps they could dig those out of the sky.
