Ideals and Mission

Ideals and Mission

Return to The Swamp
The tribe's mission follows the simple concept that all life must return to the swamp and She desires their return. As nature does, The Swamp reclaims all life, but sometimes, help is needed to return Her children to Her loving embrace. As such, the various members take on the duty of returning untouched corpses to The Swamp's Embraces. This includes all forms of life, from fallen trees and plants, to dead animal and even kin. All who require aid in their return are considered lost ones, and if they do not have another way to be returned, than the tribe's duty is to assist them. They do no touch those which renew the cycle of life, and are being returned to the swamp in other ways, only those who lay untouched and unattended, so that they may assist them with their return to Her loving embrace. The fact that one stumbled upon a pristine corpse in the swamp is rare enough that they believe it's the will of The Swamp that lead them here to return them. There are many roles in this process, from finding anything or anyone that needs to be returned, carrying and delivering these lost ones to the many Embraces in the swamp, and delivering them into her loving embrace by swimming into her depths to deliver them. Maintaining the Embraces, celebrations and assisting with any part of this process is also considered an essential duty, and any or all tasks may be taken on by any members.

The Process of Life and Death
They believe all life is equal, and we are all "sunk into the swamp" together. Following the process of life and death is also a major part of the ideals of the tribe outside of returning lost ones, and is a celebrated event regardless of it's context. Whether that's watching new life sprout from a fallen tree, a caiman eating a mongoose, or a mongoose eating a berry, all parts of the cycle of the swamp are something to be honored and revered. As such, while the tribe only has one true mission, there is no restriction on members performing other acts in the service of The Swamp's will or even just their own desires. Many also assist in other matters related to the cycle of life or death, and as long as they participate in the tribe's true mission or ideals in one form or another, all are welcome. For example, removing boulders crushing new saplings, replanting and pruning various forms of plant life, righting living trees that have been knocked from the earth, rescuing animals from unusual or unnatural situations, transplanting entire areas wrecked by floods or extreme weather, feeding the starving, consoling kin, preparing other death rites or services and anything else they may decide as long as it does not work against what the tribe believes in is not only expected but encouraged.

Main Location

Locations

The Swamp's Embrace
A large expanse of unknowably deep swamp mud, a decently sized clearing of gentle grasses to one side, surrounded by thick trees. This area is very dangerous, and even the tallest and strongest of kin would be unable to reach the bottom, and would nearly drown trying to reach even just the center of the thick muck. The lack of rocks, banks and other obstructions make this area rather unique and very well suited to the tribe's purposes. This is the main location the tribe uses the return the dead to The Swamp's embrace, though not the only one. It is also the home of the tribe and their meeting place, a place of rest and contemplation.

An Embrace
An Embrace is any part of clear, deep swamp mud that a lost one may be lowered into to be returned to The Swamp, and they can be found everywhere, as the swamp welcomes all her children with open arms.

Becoming a Tribe Member (or Friend)

Becoming a Tribe Member (or Friend)

As of now the tribe isn't fully "official" as it has no members so there is no specific process you kin will need to go through, simply a planned interaction with Regret where they agree to work together. You'll get to be part of building up the tribe into an official group, whether as a friend or as a member!
Because of this for now the only process is to contact me via private message either here or in Discord to discuss your association with the tribe, any and all are welcome. Once we determine the details we can plan a roleplay with your kin and Regret to get them started.
