[b] Seek out

Post by Shaddaling »

Chervil let herself fall behind the group as they moved from the beaches farther into the swamp towards the groves for the fall harvest. She switched her tail, considering and decided it was time to seek out what she needed. She wouldn't be the first or last and she would come back soon enough. She gave Chives a nudge to keep up when her brother would have followed her and started to walk off on her own.

She knew what she wanted, what she needed, now all she had to do was wait till she found one or one of them came to her. She was certain someone would answer her call of need.

The Eaglehound found her, eventually.

As the shadows from the sinking sun stretched across the swamp, he appeared in her path, standing as if waiting, watching her through bright glowing eyes.

She had heard things of course, Legion had met with Roses as a swan and it was easy to see that the Eaglehound was something more. The eyes glowed and just too intelligent. Chervil shifted slightly, nervous before bobbing her head in greeting. "Good evening... thank you for your time."

She paused, uncertain how to continue. "Could.. I get a name, if possible? I'm Chervil."She managed, keeping her voice level as mostly gathering her nerves under control. Who was it? That answered her call and met with her as the sun fell and night started to come to life around them.

The Eaglehound tilted its head at her, holding position for one thoughtful moment, before shifting into a tall red-haired stag.

“Who am I to deny such a polite request?” He said, his smile warm and voice pleasantly charming. “My name is The Killing Moon.” The night chorus was just beginning and there was a chill to the breeze that brushed past them.

“What do you seek, Chervil?”

"Ooh," She blinked, looking up at him and well, he was rather handsome wasn't he? She shifted a bit flustered at such a charming buck in front of her and it was like the night was just sort of highlighting him. "It is a pleasure to meet you." She nodded, polite and. "Ooh, yes."

"I was hoping for a blessing," She said finally, shaking her head. She was not going to flirt with the buck no matter how pretty he was, not now. "I want them to be healthy. To grow fast and stay close and not end up lost in the swamp as we travel." She wanted to much but at the most and heart, she wanted them to live. To grow up and find loves of their own.

His mouth curled into a smile, as if he knew full well the effect he could have and was enjoying it.

“That is something I can ask for - although,” his head tilted thoughtfully, “keeping one's children from wandering off into the Swamp is more your job than the Mother Father’s. She’s not a babysitter.”

But he had asked what she desired and so he would deliver, in a sense.

“May your children be born healthy and with the strength to keep up with whatever they desire, be it family or otherwise.” His grin was sharper this time. “What do you think, Chevril? Will that suffice?”

"Thank you... and perhaps one more request?" She started, paused and let it rushed out. "CanImeetupwithyouagainsometime?" She shook her head, flustered and groaned silently in her mind. "Umm.." she trailed off and groaned out loud this time, sitting down and covering her face with a leg. Okay this was embarrassing.

The Killing Moon laughed at her request and her embarrassment -though there was no cruelty in the sound, just pleasure from having his ego stroked. "Perhaps," was all the hope he offered her. She was indeed a very lovely doe. "Though I am certain you would make for delightful company." He looked her up and down thoughtfully and then gave her a playful wink.

"Good luck with your children. I hope they don't wander off on you."

Then he changed into an eaglehound and turned to slip away into the oncoming night.

Chervil almost missed the playful wink but it emboldened her a bit, enough at least to stand up straight and not die of embarrassment. She nodded dumbly, watching him change off and slip into the night.

Wait... did that mean. She had to talk to her brother! He wasn't oppose to meeting up with her again! This was great!

@Ruriska
