[ NON-EXISTENT COLT EDITION ]
Death eyed the particularly cranky muskrat - well, cranky for good reason, he'd just offed its kin, and who knew how many of its kin the three of them had just offed - and decided to put it out of its misery. It went at him with desperation and rage; he flung it down from its toothy grip on his leg, and crushed its skull in one swift movement.
The colt rubbed his hoof against the grass, wiping off the blood perfunctorily. A glance about to check how his siblings were doing in their hunt, then he leaned down and tore at the carcass.

[ NON-EXISTENT COLT EDITION ]
The dark green colt stood motionless by his brother's right flank, vision fixed on some point in the distance far from the three.
"There's a raccoon thirty paces from here," he said, just over the sound of tearing flesh.

"Another one?" Cue clicked her tongue in disgust, looking up sharply from her own half-devoured game a while away from the brothers, "can't you spot a snake instead? At least they put up a bit more of a fight."

He shook his head, nudged the body away and sighed a labourious, teenage sigh.
"I don't know what Mother was on about," he said dryly, surveying their littered kills in the region. "There's nothing challenging about this - " a prod at the remains, " - at all. It's useful, but boring."
Death cocked his head contemplatively and opined, a little cheekily, "I bet you'd be more fun to hunt, Cue."

"I'm not being prey for you," she half laughed, half snarled - derisive, but not a little wary. There was no telling when Death's jibes crossed the line to deadly seriousness, and she rather had the sense that he would, indeed, quite enjoy hunting her.

"Hah, well," he grinned - the smile pleasant yet sinister - and advanced a couple of steps towards his sister. "You could hunt me too." A confident nod. "It would certainly be a better use of the day."

“It wouldn’t be fair,” she said with something approximating a chuckle, but without the humour, jerking her head roughly at Cry, “two against one.”

Death shifted his weight, an eagerness in his limbs starting to show - he flicked his tail and replied readily, "Cry can hunt too. We'll hunt each other separately." A pause, and he said magnanimously, as an afterthought, "you don't have to if you don't want to, Cry. You can just watch."

A moment's silence. With a pull that seems almost reluctant, Cry detached himself from Death's side and stood away, good eye glowing faintly in the kimeti manner against a green near-black in the night, unreadable in the darkness.

Is that so? Well, if it is. Cue rolled her shoulders in a careless shrug, trying not to betray the excitement that had started sparking in her frame; it had been getting rather boring, and this... This idea of Death's could have some merit. Nodding agreement, she flowed into a crouch, digging her heels into the mud.

The blazed colt stamped into the earth, tested its solidity, then pushed into it, hard: Death took off, a leap and a concentrated charge. Now this would be a real challenge, and he was keen to win it. The landscape blurred as he flew forward, barrelling straight ahead...

...she was no longer where he aimed. She had kicked off, side-stepped, now she was behind him; she raised her hooves to strike -

- Ah, Cue! He was both incensed and impressed with his naivety and her skill. His forward-heavy landing freed his hind legs, and he lashed out violently -

Just barely dodged that powerful kick - it would have put her out for good.
Playing for keeps, aren't we, Death? she thought, wry and grim; she had her own devices. Like a shot, she was off - this time fading into the thick brush, as if she had never been there.

His look was intense, green eyes stark against his markings - he scanned the leafy border with a barrage of tactics overrunning his mind. Once he sighted a flash of blazing green though, it was instinct again. A dash, and he lunged straight into the leaves for a optimistic shot.
