[imgright]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... uncert.png[/imgright]The kin at the side of the starting line says go, and his whole existence narrows from eager hooves and anxious flutters to the simple, rigorous motion of running. He is full, mind and body, with the endless, thundering sound of hoofbeats, the mechanical motion of leg by leg by leg, propelling himself endlessly forward. He drifts into a blissful calm, soothed by its familiar rhythm. Somewhere far away, both physically and mentally, there is a finish line; for now, there is only motion and endurance.

There is only the marathon.

A gaggle of foals tumble across a field, all giggles and screeches of play. An eaglehound trails faithfully, watchfully after them, and stops to scent their trail. In their passing, the foals had crushed the flowers underhoof, and the sweet smell of violets fills the air.

Meet You All The Way

[imgright]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... uncert.png[/imgright]I've asked, in the past,
If you would consider, perhaps,
Making a compromise with me
[left-indent]For our meeting place.[/left-indent]

You never capitulate,
Set, unfailing, a time and date
And location, especially,
[left-indent]Outside my range.[/left-indent]

Frustration mounts day by day,
But even so melts away
When I imagine being there
[left-indent]By your side.[/left-indent]

We both know, eventually,
My love will conquer me,
And inevitably,
[left-indent]I'll meet you all the way.[/left-indent]

Leave your past life behind you. Slip out of the place you once held in the lives of others, shed it like so much dead skin. Slough off obligations, cut your ties.

Emerge free, and pink, and raw, into the open air. Run far away, and leave it behind you. Lay low until the redness fades from your skin, and it thickens into a proper hide, something thick enough to protect you.

Pray you never see your old skin again.
