Waves Under the Moon huffed. Only ONE ticket? Really? Tch.

He was extremely cross with himself. He'd been pretty ok at this game the last couple of years, but this year...

Maybe his mojo was off, maybe he was spending too much time sulking. He'd been kind of down lately, well, maybe more then usual. Maybe.

Waves decided to kin watch, observing others who were shooting berries. Maybe by watching others do it, he could do better the next time he came by. The buck watched closely as others tried their turns at the shooting. Hm..small berries seemed to be preferred as the larger berries seemed to fall short from the targets. Shooting straight seemed to be the more successful strategy, but the smaller berries seemed less accurate, tending to fly by intended targets and hitting other targets.

Next he watched for force. Too little was of course, too little and some berries just plopped on the ground. Sometimes a bird or other small animal ran in to grab the berry remains and took off with their treat. To much and the berries tended to end up stains way, way, way past any target and disappeared into the swamp to be someone else's snack.

It really was harder then he realized and his bad mood eased. To find the perfect way to use the shooter, the size and weight of berries, the tension on the pull. It all had to come together near perfectly to hit the paw targets. Next time he'd try a different way of shooting berries then he had done in the past, see if his hit rate would get better.

Rp response: “Is it that obvious?” Hundred and One flared out his headfins in vain before he realized the little Zikwa beside him was completely without eyes. “Yes, I do rather resemble Mother Wrath in appearance, I daresay more than any of my siblings. It’s just the strength in her bloodline, you see. Any of her brood are recognizable on sight for her regal draconic figure.”

Ah, but—no sight, right. Hundred and One shuffled on his hooves a little, unsure how to make himself seem bigger without using his rather intimidating face. Instead, he opted for a show of prowess.

“My name is Hundred and One, after the many, many ways I outshine my brother,” he said slyly, lining up his shot. “Not the brother that you—erm—spend time with, specifically, but I bet I could oust him as well.”

And then when he had a moment, he pulled back on the slingshot and let berries fly, hitting the rare target square in the center.

“Ha! Did you see that?” He asked, tail lashing until he remembered. “Ah, uhm, I mean—you can smell the victory in the air, can’t you?” He was so busy fussing with how to say things properly that he didn’t take nearly as much time lining up his shots. One by one, the remaining two missed entirely, each one punctuated by a hiss between his teeth.

“It’s—not always consistent,” he insisted, looking around for his ticket prize, for more berries. “How did you meet him, then? My brother. The one you spend time with, specifically.”

Messenger stepped up to this absolutely wonderful booth and watched as others partook in the game. He stepped up to a an opening and looked at the shooter and the berries. So the point was to shoot the berries at the marked targets. That shouldn't be too difficult right? Giving the targets a solid look over he noticed that there were x's and paw prints. He assumed that the idea was to hit the paws. Picking up his first berry he aimed and shot it at the the first target and hit the large paw print. Picking up his next berry he aimed once more and it landed on a smaller paw print. His head must have gotten to him on the final shot because he hit one of the X's. All in all he wasn't disappointed. It was fun and he may or may not have snacked on a berry or two while he was there.

Even if this was his first wintermarket Shade had studied all the other booths present. Mostly seeking if there was anything he could "win" to present to Sweet Hereafter but all the prizes paled in comparison to her. He couldn't bring anything unworthy, "My time at wintermarket has become a lot more fun with you here." He said with an expression that he hoped was suave and debonaire, rather than the shy, goofy smile that his muzzle pulled into while looking at Sweet. "But if you wished to visit other booths, I'd be honored to accompany you."

He was able to school his features into a more neutral but still pleasant state when he turned to Guardian of Souls. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Guardian of Souls. Have you been enjoying yourself at wintermarket?"

Rp response: Now that she'd had her fill, Heart tried another go at actually playing the game. The berries were still very good but she managed not to eat them, instead launching them at the leaves. She managed to hit the correct targets and was quite pleased with herself.

Speaking of leaves, she noticed a familiar kio doe was also here. "Leaves You Breathless! How nice to see you here!" she greeted, trotting up to her.

(Idk what happened but pls ignore the 2nd set x.x)

It took the dainty Zikwa to realize another kin was speaking to them, and their ear twitched, head canting gently in that direction. Born chuckled softly. "I'm afraid I wouldn't be any help to you," they answered with a smile, a toss of their head shifting their hair in a way that made it very obvious they were lacking sight. "I've never played. My mate helped helped me set this all up." It'd been Death that had tested the range the previous year, and their children that'd happily stepped up to try it out this year.

They dipped their head in a little apology, letting their attention return to Death's brother as he spoke up again, family pride coming through, before introducing himself. "I'm Born of Death," they offered back, soft and friendly. "And perhaps you could, but it would not be without challenge." It was a challenge, if a gentle one. Given in good humor and good faith.

Another little chuckle followed at the buck hit one of the targets. "Yes, I can smell it." The whole clearing smelled of delectable berry juice, it was quite delicious.

A couple of hissed breaths hinted at a couple of missed shots, but Born didn't comment on that. Instead they focused on Hundred's other question. "We met by very fortunate chance. I'd wandered into a bog, stuck and sinking slowly, and it was just my luck Death wandered by in time to pull me free. Truth be told, I might have been smitten with him right then and there, but it took some time to find the courage and the words to say as much. I'm so very grateful to have him in my life."
