It's the most magical time of the year and Remake the World was ready to make it the bestest, biggest, and brightest celebration for her family as the year had been short of disastrous. It was full of grief, despair, and all the wrong vibes. She was intent on ushering in a new era with the winter party. She had the perfect menu planned and project managered the hell out of the entire ordeal from making sure there were no potluck dish overlaps, that the one friend with famous deviled eggs recipe made sure to make three dozen, and that everyone who ran chronically late were given amended start times to account for their time blindness. Remake the World had planned for every possible obstacle and outcome. Surely it would go according to plan and if not, she had a Costco Rotisserie chicken and peanut butter pies in the trunk of her car for reinforcements. She even picked up radishes and butter for those who decided to foolishly start their ketogenic diet right before the vigorous holiday schedule. She was prepared to say the least. And all that planning went out the window as soon as she walked out of her bathroom and almost into her mirror self.

After several rounds of the ridiculous spiderman meme come to life, Remake the World was faced with the worst case scenario: a wrench thrown into her micromanaged to hell and back plan. She did not account for a mirror image with no concept of the way of this world, nor able to read. It was like giving a toddler invincible powers but no rules. Her right eye twitched. She closed both eyes to force the eyelids to behave. And in the darkness of her mind, she saw the scene play out. Her carefully laid plans crumbling into dusty blue ash amid the winter snow. A car drove over the remnants carelessly until the last dregs were but specks fading into oblivion.

"No. I reject this reality." She roused herself from her pity party, glared at her counter part, and came up with a plan.

"No, i can leverage this. Two people means extra hands right? And maybe I'll be able to go into the special lane for once." She put her mirror image to work. The mirror image was all too happy to comply because mysteries could not be solved or the day saved on an empty stomach. And the sooner they ate, the sooner she would be able to return to her own realm.

Together, Remake the World and her mirror image made use of the high-occupancy vehicle lane and sped through traffic to their destination. She had double the hands to bring in the food, place the tablecloth and settings down, artfully arrange the flowers, put up the mistletoe sprig, fluff up the decorative pillows, and create the leaning tower of Pisa in macaron form. And to be a little cheeky as it was their special secret, Remake the World dressed up as Santa. Santa would not be anyone without his counterpart. Much like this party would not have been as easily whipped together without her mirror image, Santa would not be anyone without the stick to the carrot. The mirror image dressed up as Krampus and together they hosted a magnificent holiday party. Nothing went awry even when one uninvited guest showed up with a ghastly ranch fountain. For goodness sake, the ranch wasn't even made from scratch. It came from a plastic squeeze bottle. It was so beyond the pale that Krampus shook out the bag and got straight to work. While both Remake the World and her mirror image were magical and had powers, the villain of the evening was much more mundane- bad tastes. Together they vanquished their enemy with a large bag and some birch sticks.
