Name Origin:… Strength waning as slowly everything became distant and muted. He could see his parents and his two sisters curled together. He would go to them and huddle in the warmth of family but... 'kruuuk' A familiar sound. His ears perked and he felt once again a distinct urge to wander. But...his family... 'krruuk kruuk krrruuuk kruk' His legs took his hungry weakened body past the snarling beast of winter and into the bitter cold of the snow. 'Strange...am I dreaming...Am I dead...?' He thought to himself as the snowy haze gave way to a sparsely covered field. The mountains rose in the distance purple and black against the sky in the early morning. A glance back showed him that he'd traveled quite far; but he could still see his trail.
The sound that had brought him here was now louder, more distinct. "Kruuk...awk!" Blinking he saw before him two large ravens perched on what appeared to be a large lump of fur partially covered in snow. But...they were eating? Or at least trying to. He felt his heart grow heavy. A Totoma? Closer inspection informed him that it was actually a wild boar; half eaten and left to the ravens. The somber feeling passed to be replaced with disbelief and joy. But this... this would be enough to last at least another week. His strength renewed he managed to take himself to it. After some effort, he left a hock and some of the belly to the ravens. Thanking them he drags the rest to his family. Upon his return and past the surprise; after all had taken their fill for the day.
"How?" "I heard the ravens. Their call guided me to this. Motherfather has been good to us this winter." From then he was no longer known as the 'fool child' who chased ravens for sport. He was then known as Guided By Ravens …. from then on he heeded their call, especially in the winter.
