It wasn't that he picked fights, from the very first day he could teeter uncertain on wobbly hooves he found that fights found him. Scuffles with other totoma, with familiars and everything he encountered. He was scrappy, and there was something about him and his demeanour that bothered other people, they came to him and he was happy to take them on with his hard head and incredibly thick scales. It went on through his adolecence and when he was grown he swore off fighting completely. No more, there'd be no more of it, it didn't matter that he had a record, he didn't care for the record one bit.
But when the pack of wolves came, he set it aside for the sake of his family and drove them off back whence they came and realised that maybe his natural talent would be good for something. He turned his attentions to helping to protect others in need of a bit of brute strength.
They knew him as Undefeated.
