First, it came as something he just simply did, making little holes that he would lay in, his little face puffing up from outside of the hole, scaring adults who didn't see him.

Then, as he grew, so did the holes.

It got to the point that his father had remarked, proudly, one day that it was as if he was digging for shelter. The words stuck on him, and from that day, he was Digs for Shelter - his holes were home, to keep warm, to keep safe.
