Perfect Plumage wrinkled his nose and tossed his hair a little as he gingerly prodded the fruit. “This better not stain,” he breathed to himself as he dropped a berry into the little curved depression and pulled it back.

The berry struck a leaf with a wet sounding splat, and despite being several kin-lengths away, Perfect shrieked dramatically (earning him some concerned glances from his fellow kin) and danced out of the way, frantically examining his coat.

When he was sure he was looking as perfect as ever, he dropped another berry and kind of dragged the thing back with his hoof. His aim was badly off and the berry sailed wide, dropping sadly to the ground next to the wall. He only managed to land one more berry in the end, but his final toss managed to spill the tiniest bit of strawberry juice on the fur next to his hoof. Wailing morosely, the fussy kimeti strode from the booth to find somewhere to wash up.

Prompt:
If there was one thing Never Known would describe himself as, it was willing. He was always willing to try something, to indulge some curiosity or another, to give an effort at whatever was placed before him. If anything, it always resulted in some new curious experience or another, if not just something to pass the time.

However, winter market seemed to truly be testing the limits of this.

While the buck wouldn't consider himself overly skilled, shooting berries didn't seem like a particularly arduous task. He watched as other kin walked up and seemed to hit a fair few targets, and so when Never Known finally strolled up to give it a shot, he figured it would go fine. Not perfect, he wasn't that confident, but at least a fair average shot. Enough to get him on the board.

However, apparently he had been hoping for too much. One berry after another just did not hit, miss after miss until he finally, thankfully, managed one small shot. He stared at it for one moment, and then the sling, and then gave a nod to the booth owners before slinking off, completely and utterly embarrassed.

Prompt: Something Fishy was always happy to throw things at other things, and here was an opportunity to do so without getting in trouble... In fact, he was encouraged and actually may be rewarded! He quickly threw five berries in quick succession. His first one went wide and missed, but the next attempt had him set four berries at once and they hit their targets, three grouping up the the fourth hitting something different. He nodded happily at the results (and the lack of angry words demanding to know why he was throwing food instead of eating it.)

Prompt: Fermented Plum stepped up to the game, observing other kin play before deciding to give it a shot. She loaded a berry into the slingshot and pulled back, aiming for the heart. Splat!

"Not bad," she said with a grin, glad she'd hit her mark. The second berry's target was the little critter drawn on the leaf, and that too got a direct hit. She tried a few more times, only missing once with her last three berries. She considered that a pretty good showing and gave the two running the booth a thank you as she stepped back to let other kin try.

Try as she might, every berry placed into the basket sailed clean past any matter of target. Not that she wanted to win anything. Not that she had sour grapes or anything. But still. It was. Kind of fun.

Wilderness and Streams was curious about this booth and figured he'd try and give it a go. Looking at the five berries he was given he looked at the targets and wondered how well he'd fair. FIrst shot landed on an x. Drat. The next two hit a critter! Yay! He smiled to himself and shot the next one, another x. Shot one last time and got a critter! Happy with his overall results he stepped back for the next kin to take their turn.
