Sending off the dead was something most took very seriously. But he thought the dead deserved a sendoff worthy of a crowd. One evening he was finally allowed to lead a ceremony. Heavy hooves stomped a beat as hums and cries rose up. Finally it was his moment - but he switched it up a bit. Those in attendance, his father included, watched in slack-jawed awe as the totoma seemed to inhale the funeral flames and then expel them upon the body. A trick he had practiced for far too long with one of the family salamanders tucked up under his fur and plates. Soon word spread of his amazing theatrical ceremonies. Everyone was asking for the "Firebreather".

Or at least, she used to. A terrible coincidence seemed to keep occurring. Whoever she would visit and tend to seemed to wither and perish the next day. Horribly unlucky, some would whisper among the tribe. Yet they kept weary eyes upon her. Reports of her staring off and whispering to someone that wasn't even there. The continued deaths. Some called it a gift to somehow sense those that would pass on and offer them comfort. Others were not so open-minded. The harshest of the tribe dubbed her "Deathspeaker", for to speak with her was to welcome your death.
