ANTS ON A LOG

One by one they march along, each carrying their special bundle of goods back to the nest.
The remnants of some kin's forgotten lunch, gone by the time their nap has ended.
An outraged cry wakes the birds in the trees - yet they do not falter, and continue on.

FLOWERFALL

Spring flowers drift on the breeze - carried along to all corners of the swamp, spreading their sweet scent everywhere.

LULLABY OF THE DROWNED

He waits at the edge of the pond as they drift closer and closer. The salt burns their tender eyes and noses; parches their thirsty throats. His pool is clean and clear, and they are drawn to it.
One false step and he lunges, and drags them down into the depths. Their struggles don't last long. Soon, their bones join the rest to sleep beneath the waves until the next one comes along.

her hooves strong, her teeth sharp
her quarry struggles but it's no match

she eats her fill, and burns the rest

and buries the ashes

a placid lake after the monsoon

Seafoam is flung onto the beach,
The waves pound the shore,
