"Your name is your own, and it's not fair to get outside pressure to change it. At least with deed names, you get a little bit of control– you work at something you love, so that you can sort of tilt the odds in getting a name you like. With dream names, it's what comes to you unbidden." She reared up, trampling down some deadfall wood, watching it splinter beneath her hooves. The rot was powdery, and small bugs and woodlice scattered. Even in something as unpleasant as dry rot, there was life. A metaphor she wasn't going to bring up. Honestly, she'd heard worse names.

"This next bit's a fairly steep decline. It's easier to get back up, but feel free to lean on me if you need help getting down. Wouldn't want you to fall!"

Greed nodded, careful with her footing as she continued along with the mare's path. The footing was dry here, at least. "Would it even matter if I fell at this point?" she asked, more curious than anything else. "I'm barely along at all-- I didn't even know for certain, but you're clearly convinced, so... She let herself trail off for a moment.

"I haven't even started getting round yet."

"It would matter if you fell because you would be hurt. Nothing to do with the little ones inside of you- you're not just a vessel, after all! You're still important on your own, you know. I can sense who's bearing and who isn't, but even if you weren't– even if we'd just run into each other by chance and I was helping you find something to eat, I still wouldn't want you to fall." Nobody got needlessly hurt on Fish's watch, not if she could help it.

Greed nodded, grunting for a moment as she went over a large arch of rather log-like root. "If it helps, I promise I won't go out of my way to trip. I rather enjoy not hurting."
