Naming Story: Of all the work the tribe needed done, Salt liked crabbing and shelling the most. They were known to stand for hours in the ankle-deep surf, digging out clams and mussels and crabs, then flinging them onto shore to be gathered up and taken away for eating. It was very much a game, and they were very good at it. Some nice, hard work, and then they'd trot up the beach, salt clinging to their wool to join the others in talking, eating, and merriment. The powdery white crust around their hooves is what gave them their name; they wore it as a badge of honor, representing the work they liked best.

Name: Never Thirsty
Naming Story: Carrying fresh water to the beach is a thankless task, but the sea, as refreshing as it is, can never sate one's thirst. Besides, the whole tribe loves nothing more than a delicious fruity drink, and for that, you need water. Lots of water. The young ones of the tribe are often sent off to the spring to carry it back, as the task is easy and safe, just rather boring. Once, when the trio was sent off to the spring and came back, the adults noticed that the two of the totoma had brought about the same amount of water, while one had brought more. When asked, the two admitted that in the heat they had had some to drink, understandably. The third, who didn't drink, simply said: "When I look at the sea, I'm never thirsty."

And the name stuck.

Name: Waiter
Naming Story:
This Totoma's natural coat could have helped them become a great hunter - if the sand bar had afforded as much shadow and tree as the inner Swamp. Still, the tribe needed meat to make its meals with. So, instead of trying to blend in with their surroundings, the Totoma took a different tack: waiting. They could stay still for hours. Had such a lot of patience. Could wait like anything. And, eventually, when a mongoose, or a foxbun, or what have you, finally let down its guard and brushed past the long-immobile bulk - bam!

Their method of operation wasn't quite evident to their kith and kin, however, in its early stages.

"What are you doing?" some would say (startling away their targeted prey), "are you waiting?"
"What are you waiting for?"
"Still in wait?"
"You're still waiting?"
"Where's the waiter?"
"Waiter!"

It stuck, even as their methods started producing delicious results, and it wasn't long before cries of, "Where's that dang Waiter?!" started resounding through the Sand Bar.

Name: Order
Naming Story: While some kin are born to be out front, making nice with other kin and bustling from place to place, In Order is more of a back room kind of Totoma. Their skill lies in order, in tidiness, in making sure that after the fun has been had and the food's been eaten and the party comes to an end, everything is put back in its proper place, every sign of being there is wiped away. While other kin find their place of relaxation in eating or drinking or dancing or dozing or whatever else might be their idea of vacation, this particular Totoma takes comfort in order and organization.

When everything's in its rightful place, everything fits into the world just a little bit better.

Naming Story: Curiously for a totoma, named after their high energy level and excitability that has them bouncing constantly from place to place, or bouncing in place. Absolutely not because if you harsh their vibe they will throw you so hard you'll bounce.

Name: Cracks Shells
Naming Story: Living and working on a beach, there are many foods with hard shells. Crabs especially. Being a totoma, known for their strength and hard heads, they thought that they could use their strength to crack into those hard shells. One day, they gathered a couple crabs and started jumping on them. Over and over they jumped until they heard them crack.
