Cry had been sourcing good herb - or at least, herb-planting - patches around the territory, but had returned in time to witness the later part of their little battle. His first instinct had been to aid Death - but surely Cue would complain. Oh, yes. So he merely settled upon Death's comfortable throne and observed their desperate bumbling. Quite amusing, really.

Luckily she did not curse her miss so much as to fall to his clumsy blow. This time - THIS TIME! She darted away and lashed at his hooves...

Death was feeling pretty sorry for himself at the moment as his front legs buckled. It was time to be desperate - he brought them back up, and reared wherever he saw the flash of black and green.

Neatly, she slipped out from under his hooves and spun - she had him now, she could feel it -

He fell for the last time, and the dust swirled about his dirt-and-hoof-marked coat. Bruised and very, very unhappy, stripped of his pride and everything that mattered right now, Death resorted to the last line he could fall back on:

"YOU CHEATED!"

THE NERVE OF THAT LITTLE -

"How could I possibly have cheated?!" she bristled at him, all triumph robbed by indignation, "I was right here the entire time!"

Utterly unnoticed, Cry slipped off his perch. The two of them would continue in this vein for some time, and he'd seen it all before. That berry patch nearby, now - that was rather more interesting, and it would be prudent to beat them there before they finally realised how far past lunchtime it had gotten...
