“Remember, the goal is to hit as many leaves as possible! The more leaves you hit, the better your prize!” Life in Full Color heard someon exclaim.

He walked to the crowd and saw a berry shooting range. He stepped up first, his heart racing. He had only 3 chances to win. He aimed at a leaf bearing a crudely painted face. He could hear the gentle rustle of the wind through the trees. With a deep breath, he shooted the berry. It soared through the air but veered off course, splattering against a nearby rock.

“Close!” someon shouted, laughing as he nudged Life in Full Color with his shoulder. “You’ve still got two more!”

He smiled sheepishly, grabbing another berry. This time, he focused even harder. He squinted against the sun’s rays and set his sights on a leaf with a pattern painted in swirling colors. He was throwing the berry. This time, it struck the leaf but fell short of the mark. Another miss.

“Okay, last shot!” they cheered, there voice ringing with encouragement. “You can do it!”

Life in Full Color's heart was pounding hard. He felt the weight of his friends expectations, the thrill of the challenge. Taking a deep breath, he shooted the last berry. He aimed for a leaf that depicted a radiant sun, painted with bright yellows and oranges.

The berry flew, and for a brief moment, it felt as if time had slowed. The berry arced gracefully before colliding with the leaf. A satisfying sound echoed through the clearing, and the leaf quivered from the impact, but the berry fell to the ground.

Life in Full Color let out a groan of frustration. Out of three shots, he’d only hit one. Disappointment washed over him, but the gleeful laughter of the others broke through the clouds of defeat.

“Hey, you did great! One hit is still something!” they said, patting Life in Full Color's on the back. “Besides, look how much fun we all are having!”

They nodded vigorously, there cheeks flushed with excitement. “Yeah! And it’s not about winning!”

Life in Full Color thought for a moment.. "You are right", he said then. "I was so focused on winning that I forget that it is to have fun!"

"Oh! Yes, I probably should." Her father would be very worried if she wandered off without letting him or her mother known.

She was about to excuse herself, but then Guardian of Souls spoke up first to take her leave, and Sweet Hereafter flushed gently, offering the other doe a grateful smile. "It was very nice to have met you. Please enjoy the rest of the market."

With that taken care of the young doe looked back up at Shadow and grinned, then turned to bound over to Born of Death at the zikwa they were talking to. He had a tail just like her father's, like gran Wrath's. She slowed as she approached the both of them, shy. "Hello," she offered softly to the buck, looking him over curiously before looking up at Born. "I'm going to go explore the market a bit with my, uh. My friend," she explained. Another time, she'd be very eager to meet someone else from their family, but just then, she was eager to go exploring with Shadow.

"Oh yes, it was very kind of him, and quite fortunate timing," they agreed, smile warm and sweet. It slipped a little as Hundred continued though, their head tilting a little. They weren't sure if that was quite the message that should be taken from that story, but it seemed...harmless enough.

They made a soft little hum in response, letting the conversation circle back to the game and his shooting skills. "Very well done!"

Approaching hooves pulled their attention, and their ear perked as Sweet hurried over to them. They chuckled at the shyness, before smiling knowingly. They'd heard her friend when he'd arrived. "Alright, have fun. Come back at sunset."

Sweet Hereafter grinned. "Of course! Thank you." She nodded to Hundred as well as she turned to rush back to Shadow, long tail swishing in her wake.

Rp response: Starving felt like she was pretty good at this berry shooting game now after her last two showings, so much so that this round she felt like she didn't need to focus as much. She'd proven herself a few times over now that her aim was true when she tried, but this time she felt like getting a little flashy. Maybe if she shot the berries in a cool or unique way she'd get more points...with the kin around her.

Stepping up to the slingshot, Starving put a berry in the pouch and, rather than pulling the slingshot back with her mouth, gave her hoof a try. It was difficult to slide her hoof into the little loop that she was used to biting down on, and when she finally pulled the slingshot back with enough force to sent the berry flying, it missed the board completely!

That was fine, though. She felt like she had the feel down now. Placing another berry in, she sat on her hind legs and pulled with both of her front hooves rather than just one. This allowed much more control and another she felt a bit silly sitting how she was, her aim was true this time with a nice bullseye on a large paw print.

Deciding to give a slightly crazier shot another try, Starving loaded up one of the slingshots for her final attempt. Rather than using her hooves, though, she turned around and hooked one of the spines of the end of her tail into the little loop. She walked back a few paces, pulling the slingshot as she went, and glanced over her shoulder. She adjusted her aim just a bit before lifting her tail quickly to release the slingshot, The berry hit the board with the targets this time, but unfortunately it didn't hit any of the paw prints.

Ah well. She'd certainly spiced it up this time, at least!

Not sure why it rolled twice, ignore the second roll.

Rp response:Bone Growth eyed the busy booth and struck up the courage to participate. She gulped and squared her shoulders back. She had no idea what was going on, but it couldn't be a bad thing if so many kin were gathered around and much merrymaking was going on. The game seemed simple enough. While the lacked the skills, perhaps luck and the wind would help. Or if she wished very hard on a star in the night sky (or all of them), her target would hit true. She had to stop herself from licking all the berries though. They were delightful, smashed or otherwise. They were supposed to be for the targets! She had to hit the drawings to win. Or at least score.

She tasted one last berry and sighed.

Okay, now she can focus. The tartness of the berries helped put her mind at ease enough to single in on the drawing in front of her. She pulled back the offered slight shot until the sling went taut. She let go, not once blinking or breathing should that affect the aim. She inhaled finally and looked at the scoreboard to calculate. Not too shabby. Not bad at all.

She gave back the space to the kin queued up after her, and lingered near the back to see how all the other kin fared. She watched the different tactics and skills employed. She catagorized each movement and sighed to herself. She was perpetually late, but maybe if she had come across the booth earlier in the season, her aim would be better. She was itching to try again. She could make her own targets! And maybe not use delicious berries. She admitted they were distracting, her stomach grumbling in agreement.

"Yes, this is my family's booth," Sleep of Death nodded. "I have been helping out by bringing more berries when they are needed. My parents run it." He nodded toward Born of Death and Death Take Me. "Some of my siblings are helping out as well. Are you part of running a booth?" he asked. The first question that had occurred to him had been to ask about her family, but it struck him as potentially rude; some kin had close families, but some didn't know their families at all.
