She kicked at the dirt and whined a little internally. She would never seethe or whine in public, but just once she wanted to. She wasn't sure how it happened. The swamp was a mysterious place after all. She met a gorgeous doe, they talked, they might have even exchanged names, and now they were in this predicament together.
And thus Every Storm a Serenade was on a journey for a kin she had never met before and had no idea what the identifying marks were. She asked all the kin around her and everyone said the same thing- "When you meet one, you'll just know."
She gnashed her teeth. It was okay. Her mouth covered the less than graceful display of irritation. The next kin that told her that would get a foot up their--

Winter was a fine time. One of the finest, in fact, what with everyone in the mood to give gifts. And that thought had derailed her journey as she came to stop with the sudden realization that she had no gifts to give her sister or her family this season. She frowned; it was such a foreign expression on her usual gleeful face. The skin between her brows furrowed and she wondered what it was she should do.
Of all the fauna of the swamp, it was the songbirds who were the masters of finding things and so it took little thought at all to turn to them for advice. Giveforward trilled expertly to call out to them and knew her dilemma would be solved in time.
