Re: [FIN] Life is Beautiful, Death is Sacred [Stil x Guardian] (transfer from gaia)

She walked along, looking around curiously, but not yet asking questions. She didn't know if she would ask about what she was seeing, as she didn't feel like it was her place really.

A soft shiver crawled along her back and down to her tail from the temperature shift, but that was all that caused it. There was no trepidation as they went further back, no she was honestly fascinated by what she was seeing.

His mention of the tar pits earned an interested note. She'd never seen them herself in her wanderings, hadn't known of their existence to be honest. "What do you use it for?" curiosity was now running rampant, really.

Blinded By Silence wrote:"Putting the broken back together," he said simply over the sound of shell on stone. He lead her back to where the bones lie, situated himself before the leafof bones with the tar next to him. He gestured with his spear-tipped tail, inviting her to sit.

Slowly, he cleared the leaf, organizing the bones by size and shape. Then, ever so carefully, he dipped a thick stick into the tar and, even more carefully, spread it on the leaf. He reached over, gently lifting the skull once more, placing it down in the black sticky pool. With his tail, he fished out seven small neck bones and set them in a pile beside him. One by one he fixed them to the leaf as well, followed by thick shoulder and collar bones, bowed ribs, a wide pelvis and all the leg bones he had. There were three, all large, sturdy, and covered in fang marks.

By the time he was done, the sun was nearly gone and the cave was growing dim. He raised his head and cracked his neck, stiff from work. He looked to the doe, surprised to find she was still there.

"Do you hear her? Her bones tell her story. What do you see?" He asked, curious.

His answer was so simple that she felt no need to ask questions as far as that went. The tar now made sense to her and she was more than a little fascinated by the process that she was about to witness.

Noting the motion for her to sit, she did just that, just enough back to not be in his way should he have to move around, but close enough to still observe him as he worked, as he meticulously laid the bones out, rebuilding the doe who had perished.

That he knew how to do this, was awe inspiring and she wondered how he learned. It was something she would ask later. Now, was not the time. She sat silently, and merely watched. It was when he finally finished, the cracking of his neck and the surprise on his face as he realized she was still there, that had her moving a little finally as well, coming a little closer to inspect the bones.

"She was attacked. I've never seen marks on bone like this, without flesh over top to know what animal attacked. Could be wolves, could be lions but either way it would seem whatever it was, got the best of her, seeing as she's missing a leg, quite probably lost after she lost her life." or so she hoped, the idea of the does leg ripped off, and her bleeding to death was a grim thought, really.

She moved to sit beside him, gently leaning against him. "Thank you. For showing me this. How you revere the no longer living, to bring them peace." there was a gentle warmth to her tone as she lightly laid her head against his neck. "I've never seen this side of death, and there is something beautiful about it. Truly." though perhaps it was his gentle caring of the dead that was beautiful. Or both. Both seemed good.

Blinded By Silence wrote:There was more to her story. The staining on the broken remnant of the missing leg probably meant she had been alive when it was taken from her. There were old wounds too, here and there, telling the tale of her victories, lamenting her losses. But he smiled none the less, gestured to her pelvic bone.

"She will be remembered by those she bore," His acid green eyes were warm as Pestilence looked up at the doe before him, "Thank you."

This was the end of his demonstration, as it were. Tomorrow was another day. He would put this soul to rest at dawn, perhaps with the help of his own children. Perhaps not. Perhaps...

He wondered for a moment if the doe would leave, now that the work was done. He searched her eyes as he did the Totoma's bones, and found himself hoping that she might stay.

She was sure there was more that she was missing, but then she wasn't used to reading bones like he was. There were questions bubbling up, ones she's ask with honest curiosity, wanting to know more. She was fascinated by what he did, what he knew and it was something interesting to add to the knowledge she already had.

"Thank you for allowing me to help and observe and to learn." oh indeed. It had been fascinating to her honestly. Guardian shifted a little, and moved to settle beside the buck, resting against him lightly to begin her gentle questioning, to learn more. To finish helping lay this doe to rest before she would feel right in leaving. There was plenty yet to do in her mind. Plus, well Pestilence was an interesting buck, and she wanted to spend more time with him as well.
