Dropped Eyes

Post by fluo »

As told by Cloud Jelly:

It starts out with a loud bang that knocks the great Creator to the ground. Face headfirst into wrong pile of sticks, their horns clack with the oncoming wood but not before one of their eyes popping out of their furry skull. The eye drops into the glowing stream and time stutters for a bit before continuing. The coated eye picks up a few friends along the way and small spiders are sent to fetch it before reaching the waterfall dropoff. Things that fell became harder to recover past that point as the end was murky and covered in darkness and chaos.

One by one the spiders reach it, only to roll comically back into the stream but not before coating the eye until it grew larger in size with each pass in the luminous liquids. The creator still has 9 eyes left and uses their numerous limbs to move mountains to head off the wandering eye and spiders at the pass. With so many forbidden things in the stream, time starts to warp and each step squeezes the breath out of the Creator. Each movement harder than the last, the Creator makes a last ditch effort to scoop up the eye and smaller spiders in a swing with its limbs upward. Too fast and too much power behind that move, they become stuck and unwilling to fall down. Permanently affixed, a happy accident rolled up in self preservation, the sky is created with one eye becoming the sun and spiders the twinkling stars with their twitching limbs.

Time continues its smooth flow now that everything is out of the glowing stream. And the Creator is not unhappy with how things turn out, but like its own 9 eyes, it has to blink and when it did, it took the light with it. There wasn't much to observe or watch over in those early periods and since beauty was found in symmetry, it plucks one out one of its eye, gingerly dips it into the river of time, and lobs it gently into the sky to pair off. When the larger eye blinks, the newer, smaller but no less fierce eye would awaken until one was always open at a time. Peace and contentment roll off the Creator in great waves. It admires its handywork, the 8 eyes efficiently surveying the sky while humming with likewise 8 limbs. Gracefully moving back to its large web, it eyes catch on more things it could add to the growing masterpiece.
