Gull, despite being half-acha, is a Tidewalker through and through. At times her mind can seem a little flighty -- she is often caught staring off over the waves as if trying to fly away like one of the birds she is named after -- but when she is focused, Gull is a force to be reckoned with. She is always determined to prove herself an integral part of the Tidewalker tribe and works hard to follow any orders she is given to the letter. She is fiercely loyal to the tribe, and the only real hint as to her "mixed" parentage (as Bitterleaf tends to refer to it, with tight-lipped displeasure) is her mind's tendency to wander. Gull has provided herself with her own remedy for this mental dallying, which she considers an almost fatal fault -- if she catches herself drifting off, the blonde-haired doe will oftentimes give a little cry of frustration and then leap into the waves, swimming out until she can no longer touch the bottom and diving deep, like the fishing birds of her naming dream.

Fallen Moon

Member of the Borderwalkers tribe

Fallen Moon is hardly ever to be seen without her twin, Terrible Purpose, whom she supports unwaveringly and cares for almost even more than for herself. The twins are a little different than most, having experienced the process of Ascension while still in their sac in their mother's belly, and it is rumored that Fate and Moon posess knowledge that other kimeti do not. They seem to share the bond that connects all twins, but it is somehow different, strange; they communicate quietly to each other and sometimes seem to be hiding secrets. Certainly when they were children growing up, they seemed to know more than any child should about the world around them and be wise beyond their years, a trait which continues into their adulthood.

Shortened Way

Distant and solitary, Shortened Way spends most of his time away from the cave system that the rest of the Borderwalkers call home. He is a wanderer like his mother, but is less interested in exploration and more in simply following the familiar paths he has carved through the borderlands day after day, ruminating. When he does occasionally show his face back at the caves, it is usually to share some cryptic idea that he has "seen" in the sands, most of which seem intended to warn his ambitious brother Terrible Purpose of things to come.

Scalded Lung

Almost died as a foal after a drowning experience where he breathed in a lot of sea water and permanently damaged his throat and lungs. Rarely speaks due to this and when he does it is small words and short sentences, coughed out in a raspy, rough voice.

Knapweed is snarky, outspoken, and tough. Her outlook on life is a positive one but if you don't agree with her she will argue with you like there's no tomorrow. She voices her opinions loudly and doesn't hold back for the sake of anything. Although she's is a generally positive and good-humored sort of doe, she is also fierce and strong and doesn't take anyone's crap, and can tend towards being brash and sarcastic. She hates to be idle and gets antsy and impatient when she doesn't have a task to work toward or something to distract her.

Tangle is queer, polyamorous, mostly into does, and her main romantic partner is Whisper. She also kind of has an ongoing thing with Safeword, despite the fact he's a buck -- she kind of considers him something separate, and they're basically bffs-with-benefits.

Wolf Dream
childlike, wise, lucid dreamer

Wolf Dream has a high, childlike voice and a matching innocence, but is often almost uncannily wise in regards to the ways of nature and creatures' behavior. He is a capable hunter, but most of the time when he is not caring for his survival he prefers to sleep -- a strange sleep filled with lucid dreams where he inhabits the bodies of a myriad of other creatures. The most common of these creature-dreams is the familiar wolf dream of his naming, but of late he has taken to traveling to new and different climes in search of dreams of new creatures to inhabit...

Owl Caller
mystic, mysterious, cold

Owl Caller is a solitary sage. He does strange, elaborate rituals and hides in an aura of mystique and mystery. He won't take his mask off in front of people and likes to pretend that it's actually a part of his body. He likes being seen as creepy and distant.

Owl Caller believes that the swamp is for swamp creatures. All of the new cousins arriving are clearly not swamp creatures, and their arrivals have all been heralded by strange weather and occurrences in the swamp (the great flood that brought the kiokote, for example, or the cold that came down from the mountains with the totoma). These things are signs of the swamp becoming out of sync with itself and off-balance. Owl Caller's main area of inquiry when not performing tasks for his tribe is to try and figure out how to restore the swamp's balance.

Owl caller's main method of 'sight' is through ripping open owl pellets and 'reading' their contents. He performs lots of other rituals, however, and tends to go for big flashy demonstrations of mysticism such as trances and the like. Whether the things he 'sees' are real or not is, of course, unknown.

He lives in his own in his own creepy little grove hung with bones that clink in the wind, etc.

Red Viper

Currently an interloper at the Borderwalkers tribe

Viper's twin Sand Snake is the sort of girl who feigns being hurt or ill to lure people in...and then when they're hooked, Red Viper comes along and they scam people with a bad cop/worse cop routine. Viper is the worse cop, and is good at fighting/physically dominating people. He is also a bit of a ladies' man, although he only really cares for his twin and only pursues other does as a tactic to get something he wants. Devoted to (over)protecting his youngest sister, Little Island, from the evils of the world.
