Name Origin: A battle suddenly turned deadly, and one young doe was left with the corpse of her enemy. She buried them in a shallow grave, hiding it beneath branches and flowers. She kept the ruse up for quite a while, visiting every so often to take care of it. When they stumbled on her and her hidden grave by chance, she was given her name.

Name Origin: After a long and difficult cold season, a young totoma went out every day to search for something besides the dead leaves and cold ground. The hunting had grown thin, but the totoma was patient in their ever-widening search. The winter seemed to drag on forever.
At last, sheltered by a cliff in an out of the way area by the spring, he found the first signs of new growth. Fresh green buds, sheltered and insulated by the snow.
So it went every year, until the tribe became used to relying on the totoma to nose out the new growths and the best of the swamp's greenest offerings. He could always be relied on to find something good, green, and new, and they called him Newfound.

Name Origin: No matter how far out of their comfort zone this totoma went, they always seemed able to find their way back. Wether it was a snowstorm or a swampy mire, they could always find their way back to where they started. Their name came simply from the common response to people asking why they were in such a strange place. "I'm not lost!"
