"I'm sorry, what was that?" he leaned an ear towards the voice, thinking he might not have heard right, "suddenly the size of – what? A...broken leg? Al-alright."

He did sign up for it.

"How strange!" he cried, slumping onto the ground, "all of a sudden,  I have been reduced – to this! The size of...a broken leg! And possibly the shape, too, or there wouldn't be much to go on here. Incapable of anything but rolling, and poorly at that, for I am broken! Ow! Ow – OW, OW, OKAY, OW, THAT WAS NOT PART OF THE PERFORMANCE."

It's not like he could have looked where he was rolling, and, all things considered, in the end it was just lucky he didn't really end up with a broken leg.

NO PRIZE: There was something nasty under this shell. Sorry! Better luck next time.
Still reeling from the unfortunate finale of his performance at the Royal Rainbow Troupe's booth, Shroud staggered right into the shell flip, dislodged a random shell, and promply went down under the angry swarm of beetles that emerged seeking revenge for their momentary imprisonment.

Jun D rolled 3 20-sided dice: 16, 3, 20 Total: 39 (3-60)
16. The earth splits and lava spills out from the cracks. [16. Ankle-deep in a refuse pool.]
3. Flying through the swamp. [3. Thrashing around in chest-high water.]
20. In front of you, a rainbow touches down, all glittering light. [20. You are barely missed by a falling tree.]
[imgleft]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... uncert.png[/imgleft]Someone said the Winter Market was almost over, and it was just as well for the limping Zikwa, banged-up limbs still aching, skin still swollen with hundreds of little beetle bites (and, to be honest, his head still didn't quite feel right after that early swan massacre). Shroud loved fairs. This fair did not love him.

"Mushrooms?" he responded weakly to some exposition he hadn't quite heard (his ears were still ringing faintly after what the swan had done), "oh, thank you kindly, don't mind if I do." At least the food booths had all been rather wonderful.

Had being the operative word. This mushroom tasted distinctly strange. But, oh well, it's not like one could complain about free food, so he nodded in thanks and went on his waaaaaaayyyyyy – OH SWAMP! He hadn't heard even the slightest crack but all of a sudden a hoof was trodding thin air and – AHH! that burnt!! He hopped from spot to spot – it was everywhere! Everywhere, he was splashing through what could only be lava, spilling out from the crumbling ground. He had nowhere to turn, nowhere to run, the only thing he could do was to rear and kick and – swoosh...

...Somehow that launched him into the air, and against all odds, he stayed aloft. He could feel the currents streaming alongside him, cool air like water slipping past and under his pelt. It was incredible...indescribable...this feeling of freedom...of flight. He could not see it, but he could sense the entire Swamp flying by far underneath, the lush green expanses, the murky pools... Never in his life had he ever felt this sense of...peace. But all good things must come to an end, and to his regret, the currents gently left him off, and his hooves touched solid ground once more.

But it wasn't just Shroud that touched the ground. No sooner had he put his four hooves on firm soil did he feel the coolest breeze, just inches before him. In wonder, he took half a step forward – and he was caressed by the softest touches, little points, all over his limbs and chest. He could feel it on his face – the warmest light. He knew too, then, that the points that played over his body, too, must be light. It was something beautiful, he knew it. Something that had come down onto the earth to grace him with its splendour. It must be, he thought, what Condolences had so often told him of, with her fine Kimeti eyes – it must be a rainbowwwww~~~~~

Around the blind Zikwa, Kin watched helpless as he splashed, screaming, around in the dirty water of a refuse pool, until he inevitably hopped far enough that he'd fallen bodily into the thankfully cleaner expanse of waist-high water, peacefully drifted through all of that, and finally stepped out near right into the path of a falling tree – then walked into its leafy crown. It was undeniably pathetic, and not a little alarming, but the expression on his face was so piously beatific no one wanted to approach him. He was still alive and that was what counted...right?

Still, someone really ought to escort him over to the brawling ring's medic before the day was done, he was definitely looking rather the worse for wear.
