It was winter market again! Trotting down the booths she was inspecting each one with a joyous smile on her face. It wasn’t before long when the familiar sound of berries hitting leaves and wood had her prancing happily over towards the berry booth. She wondered if she'd run into Born of Death while she was here today, though she didn't want to interrupt if they were busy with conversation or what not. As she approached the booth she went ahead and gave her shots a go. The first two hit the same leaf and she beamed happily and then when she shot once more she hit another leaf with a small paw print. Three out of three hits was pretty good! She couldn't remember if her marks last year was just as well or not.

As she took another second to look around she didn't exactly see Born but she saw some kin that looked like they could be related, perhaps they were kin. She would have to ask when they all didn't seem preoccupied with other booth goers. Looking at these kin that reminded her of Born made her think back at all the changes she’d had in her life this year. While there were some trials there was also reasons to give thanks.

She decided she’d walk around the booth and see who was around that she might know. Maybe she’d meet some new friends too. Her owls were rooster in a nearby tree overlooking the festivities.

Misted Lake had heard the Winter Market was a lively scene, and she found it to be no less than described. The unusually warm air was filled with the chatter of the crowds of kin that walked about the market. It was overwhelming to Misted Lake, who spent most of her time by her quiet lake, but she was also curious to see what she might find.

As she walked slowly, taking in the market, she saw berries flying towards a rock wall. "A berry range," she read aloud. How novel. She watched for a while as other kin aimed their berries at the wall, paying special attention to the kin who were doing well, and decided to give it a shot (or two).

When she stepped up to the booth, a handsome kin with flowing blue hair gave her a slingshot and a few berries. She took them gingerly. The slingshot was simply made, but made a satisfying snap when she pulled on it. She tested her grip on its handle. Taking her first berry, she loaded it carefully. Noticing that a lot of the more successful kin turned their bodies sideways, she did the same as she extended the slingshot and took aim. She didn't yet feel confident she could hit a leaf with a big paw print, so she turned her body towards a large leaf with a small paw print. With a splat, the berry hit. Not quite as center as she'd hoped, but a hit nonetheless.

Loading her next berry, she thought she might try a leaf with a big paw print. After she carefully took aim, adjusting based on how her last berry had flown slightly off course, she let her second berry go. She hit her leaf just barely.

Looking around at the remaining leaves, she frowned. The other big paw prints seemed difficult to hit. As she loaded her berry slowly, she decided to strategically take aim towards a cluster of leaves. If she missed the big paw print, at least she might get a small paw print. Still, she thought she might be able to hit the big paw print. The berry arched towards the leaves but not quite in the way she'd hoped, hitting a small paw print instead.

Not a bad showing for her first time, she thought. And what a thrill.

Turning back to the kin running the booth, she said, "You look like you would be quite good at this. Could you teach me?" It certainly wouldn't hurt to get some pointers for her next try and she thought them quite striking.

Rp response:Starving returned to the berry booth with a chip on her shoulder, with something to prove! She was a far better shot than her last showing and she was here to prove it. It was less about the possible prizes at the end of the winter market and more about pride now, something that she'd always fight to the very end for.

As always, she waited her turn for a slingshot, scoping out the competition. She made a note of a few kin that she wouldn't mind following after the fun to see if they might be interested in a little chat, but as she drew closer to the front of the small line she focused on the task before her.

Finally she stepped up to the slingshot and loaded in the first berry. She was going big or going home this time, taking careful aim at one of the targets. Splat! The berry splattered juice all over a large paw. She smirked as she loaded up another berry, taking time to aim again. This one was just slightly off her next mark, making her bear her teeth in a little snarl, showing the side of her that she didn't let many kin see. She was a pretty face, not a snarling monster. She loaded up the last berry and took a few extra moments to aim before releasing the projectile.

Starving stood up with pride as the berry splattered over another large target. She felt like she'd put on a good show this time, hitting two of the two-point paw prints, and moved away to let the next kin in line take their turn.

Rp response: Grained Melon was excited for the Berry Shooting Festival. Every year, this berry shooting range became the highlight of the season, drawing in bucks and does from across the grove.

Grained Melon bounded to the clearing near the rock wall, his heart racing with anticipation. The area was alive with laughter and chatter. The rock wall bore the marks of last year’s festivities, leaves adorned with colorful drawings, some faded, others vibrant, fluttered in the gentle breeze.

With other kin gathered around him, they set up for the festivities. “Today, we aim not just for prizes, but for the joy of the hunt! Each of you has a chance to win a ticket for every berry you shoot. But remember, it’s not just about the rewards, it’s about having fun!” he heard a kin saying.

Grained Melon took aim at a leaf painted with swirling patterns. With a deep breath and a flick of his legs, he released a berry that soared through the air, only to miss the target entirely. The surrounding deer erupted in giggles as the berry landed far off, splattering against a tree.

The air was filled with laughter, sweet scents of ripe fruit, and the sheer joy. He continued shooting, missing again then getting some good shots only to miss again. He cheered for others who hit the mark flawlessly.

As the festival goes on, Grained Melon noticed that most of the other kin had garnered numerous tickets, he held 3 tickets, more luck than skill. However, that tickets mattered little to him, the laughter they shared and the thrill of the game was way more important. There would be other festivals, more chances to shoot and win, but the fun today could never be measured in tickets. He chuckled, I hope I can shoot soon again.

Fun had heard of the din of this booth and it caught her interest enough to check it out. She looked around with bright curiosity, finding the friendly atmosphere and joy incredibly infectious and inviting. Changing her focus from the friendly conversations around her to the actual game of the booth, she watched as others launched berries at leaf targets and her delight increased. Three time? That seemed to be what everyone else was doing and she eagerly trotted up to an empty launcher for her turn. She blanked on exactly how she was going to launch these berries and took another peek at the others around her for a clue.

Oh! Teeth! That would work! Gingerly, she loaded a berry and took the edge of the basket with her teeth, doing her best to aim. A happy woop left her as her very first launch landed against a leaf. "I did it! That was so much fun!"

Perhaps with a little too much luck-earned confidence, she loaded both of her remaining berries into the basket this time. However, when she let them loose they hit, but it wasn't the targets she'd been aiming for. One hit an impossibly pink kimeti doe, splattering into a sparkly contrasting purple, and the other hit a tree. Fun's relief at the latter was short-lived as the tree moved and she realized it was actually a kimeti buck!

After a long moment of frozen, wide-eyed shock, she herself launched into action as she ran toward them. "OH sweet Motherfather, are you okay? I am SO sorry, I didn't mean to hit you. Oh I hope that doesn't stain, you're both so lovely," she spoke so frantically, trying to go both directions at once until her legs tangled up in each other and she wound up in a heap on the ground with a final, pathetic, "I'm so sorry."

Rp response: Snowy Ashes approached the booth for the third time, and took a deep breath to steady himself giving a little smile to the pair running it before he began to load up the basket with a berry chose a target and let go. There was a pleased smile as he managed to hit a small paw print, it wasn't what he was aiming for but hey it was still a hit!

He took a moment to load up again, and looked at the targets, took aim and...it went wide and he yelled "Watch out!" as the berry went off towards a kin in the distance and he winced a little. "Oops...SORRY!" he called out. He shuffled his weight a little before he was loading the basket the final time and taking a few deep breaths. "Okay. You got this. You can do this. Just pull back, aim, let go. Simple. You got this."

Snowy Ashes finished his little pep talk and took a few more breaths before he was pulling it back, making a few careful adjustments on how he was standing, how the basket was being aimed, and exhaling he let go again. Watching as he missed again. At least this time, the berries didn't go zooming at another unsuspecting kin, no no. Instead they somehow...bounced off something and rebounded to hit him and he yelped in shock finding himself pelted by his own berries.

"Well. That could have gone better. Or worse I suppose. Still not fun." and with a sigh he wandered off to go clean himself up.
