Sea was excited, and what was she going to talk about? A fish? Not just any fish, but one that she thought was fancy and beautiful. Though they never paid her any mind. Walking until she was centered on stage Sea looked at the crowd, she was dressed in an outfit she had designed after Ruby Gillman from Teenage Kraken, the one she wore to prom. It was light, flowy and very bioluminescent.

She cleared her throat and began to speak. "My name is Sea and I have a real treat for you, from me to you."

"There was once a fish with scales so bright.
They kept me up all through the night.
I'd toss and turn but nay I'd sleep.
As this fish swam along the ocean deep.
Vibrant hues so lovely and bright.
They were a sight to behold, a lovely sight.
And then one day that fish swam near.
It became my dinner, oh dear. "

She smiled at the crowd and then bowed. She didn't know if it was customary for people to clap, boo or cry. Whatever they did she didn't particularly mind because that was something from her, that was personal and she had been able to share it with them all. She rose up from her bow, gave one last smile and a wave. "THANK YOU KIND PEOPLE!"

RP of Talent: The talent show was promised to be the most entertaining event of the year. A crowd buzzed with excitement, each participant eager to unveil their unique skills. Among them was a man named D, an unassuming fellow with a peculiar talent: he could quark like a duck.

Now D wasn't your average quack artist. His ability to mimic duck sounds was both uncanny and hilarious, often catching people off guard and leaving them in stitches. As he prepared backstage, adorned in a worn but colorful shirt, he rehearsed his quacking routines, imagining the audience erupting into laughter.

As the curtain rose, he heard the voice, “And now, for our next act, please welcome D, the Duck Whisperer!”

The audience erupted in cheers as D took the stage, his nerves somehow handled by the infectious energy of the crowd. He cleared his throat dramatically and took a deep breath, then unleashed a quark that echoed through the theater. The audience erupted with laughter. He followed up with a series of impeccable quacks, flapping his arms like wings, much to the delight of the spectators.

Just as he was building up to his grand finale, something unpredictable happened. A little girl from the front row held up a small, rubber duck and squeaked it. This was no ordinary rubber duck, it was a cheerful squeaky toy, the kind that could summon uncontrollable giggles at any moment.

D, in mid-quack, turned to the girl and instinctively responded with an unprecedented sequence of quarks that echoed the rubber duck’s squeak in perfect harmony. The audience was roaring with laughter, but before he could catch his breath, a cascade of confetti burst from the ceiling, creating an impromptu surprise shower. Blinded by colorful paper and caught off-guard, D stumbled back and accidentally stepped on a banana peel that had been left on the stage, sending him careening into a nearby stack of props.

He crashed into a giant inflatable duck, which sent it rolling across the stage. The audience became a sea of giggles, and D, ever the showman, quickly rode the inflatable duck like a rodeo cowboy, all while quacking in a rhythm to the laughter surrounding him.

As the performance reached its climax, D attempted a final, elaborate duck dive off the inflatable and rolled across the stage, ending in a dramatic pose, wings flapping wide, his shirt unfurling for dramatic effect. The moment was frozen in time, complete with a spotlight shining down, painted by laughter and applause that filled the air.

When the dust settled and D finally stood up, breathless and with confetti on his head, the crowd erupted into thunderous applause and cheers. D took a deep bow, his heart swelling with joy as he soaked in all of it.

RP of Talent: Holly waited her turn nervously, her hands toying with her brown, very done-up hair. She had curls and waves for days, the height of the 'do impressive to say the least. The hair was all part of the act - she was a one woman tribute band to a rather famous country singer - and it was part of the identity of her talent. It always took hours to perfect and she always fussed with it out of nerves before she got on the stage. Every little lock had to be in place!

Finally it was her turn, the mic passed to her as she walked up onto the stage. Her costume - a rather over the top blue dress with rhinestones over every square inch - sparkled in the lights, helping to draw every eye to her. She felt the butterflies in her stomach settle as she smiled and waved to the crowd. Somehow stepping onto the stage always settled her nerves. A hush fell over the audience as her music began and her smile fell from her face as she took the intro music to focus.

Once she began, her voice twanged perfectly with her faux Southern accent, emulating her idol flawlessly. Though she wasn't from a place that spoke with the inflection the famous singer had, she'd worked with acting coaches and linguistic professors to make sure she had the accent down pat. This was part of the show, after all. The hair, the outfit, and most importantly, the voice. She sang her heart out as she did whenever she performed, and as the song came to a close the crowd applauded. She gave a little bow and a smile to the people gathered before heading off, letting the next person get up to show what they had.

RP of Talent: Gideon had her signature sunglasses on and her massive double-handed sword resting on her shoulder as she waited for her turn on the stage. A few of the other talent-havers eyed her warily, but she just gave them a massive grin and a little wiggle of her red eyebrows. They had nothing to worry about despite the size of the weapon. This was her practice blade that was dull to the touch just in case any little kiddos got curious and wanted to touch the shiny metal.

Or. You know. She messed up and hit herself. Didn't want to lose a leg on stage even if that would be pretty memorable.

Once it was her turn, Gideon climbed up onto the stage. She settled into her starting stance, legs spread wide with her sword held in both hands before her. She let out a slow breath before going into her training movements, swinging the massive sword above her head, by her sides, spinning with the momentum she and her weapon created. Her biceps bulged with each swing and though it was clear it took massive amounts of effort to keep the blade moving, her expression remained chill with a bit of a smile.

When she finally came to a flourishing finish, her sword settling on her shoulders again like some super cool anime character, the crowd whistled and cheered for the display. She gave them a little salute before sauntering off the stage, definitely ready to partake in that little tiki bar's offerings she'd seen on her way into line.

Nick watched with interest as others performed. Some of the talents being showcased were elaborately displayed, while others were more simply presented. His would be of the latter category. He took a few moments beforehand to visit the tiki bar, choosing something in a pineapple; it matched the brightly colored, fruit-patterned shorts he wore. He was long and lanky, almost painfully skinny, darkly tanned with short dark hair and strange pale eyes. Along with the shorts, he wore a Hawaiian shirt printed with palm trees, open over his bare chest, and a necklace with a shark tooth hanging from it. The overall effect was carelessly jaunty, if not terribly fashionable.

He got into the line for the talent show and moved up as the line did, observing each performance. Poetry and singing and physical prowess; all impressive in their own ways. He couldn't applaud while holding the pineapple with his drink, but he slapped his leg by way of applause at the end of each performance, adding a sharp approving whistle after the singer had finished her song. That, he felt, had been stellar.

When it was his turn, he stepped up to the stage and smiled out at the audience. "I want to recite a poem for you," he said. "The title of my poem is The Man From Nantucket."

He took a deep breath.

"There once was a man
From Nantucket, who wrote a
Poem about his thing."

He grinned, sharp and sharklike, and added, "It's a haiku," then bowed, careful not to spill his pineapple, before getting off the stage.

Leigh looked around at all the other participants, it was certainly interesting to see what others had to offer for the talent show. She was a little bit nervous and tried to shake off the pressure she was putting on herself. Trying to distract her internal monologue she looked around. So many had shown up for this opportunity. Lovely voices, daring swordsmen ship, quacking, poetry, and so much more! She hoped to bring some interest in her talents to others, exposure was important, even if she didn't win her name would be out there! Ever since she was little, she could take a raggedy arrangement and transform it to the other person's interests or personality. Leigh just needed a bit of background before she got lost in her creativity.

Walking onto the stage she greeted the judges, other contestants, and guests. " Today I am going to showcase my talent of flower arrangements. I have brought many pieces with me and I hope you enjoy my creative process! This talent is a part of my very being and brings me much happiness." She pointed to the flowers in her hair and gesture as she spoke. "The piece I plan to present you with right now is one that embodies a tropical ideal with a side of water elements! Let's begin shall we~" Taking a vase, water, and stones Leigh arranged them before grabbing some variants of blue flowers; Calla Lily's to start then blended them with Birds of Paradise and Orchids. So into the zone she began to hum and finished with a flourish. "I like to call this piece Nalu in reference to this show and it means wave. Thank you for having me!"

RP of Talent: Envy sighed and walked up to the end of the queue. She waited patiently for her turn as each of the other people in line took their turn showing off their talents. Envy had happened upon the talent show by happenstance, a coincidence in her walk along this stretch of the beach. She didn't have any qualms about signing up for the show. Showing off her talent is part of what makes her happiest.

Envy looked around at the beach and the stage and the people. So many new sights, smells and interests. Envy finally reached the stage for her turn. She shifted her bag on her shoulder to the floor of the stage and set down the bucket of water she'd been keeping at her feet in line. She pulled out three tennis balls. She showed them to the crowd and then started flinging them in the air one at a time before catching each in it's turn and cycling them back up. After a few minutes of this she caught them all and then reached into her bag to pull out another tennis ball. She started juggling four balls, even going so far as to toss them up from behind her back before catching them in front of herself. Again, after a few minutes she stopped juggling and caught them all in her hands. She then put the balls back in the bag and pulled out three sticks with padding on one end. She proceeded to light them on fire and started juggling them, faster, slower, twisting them around in an intricate dance of juggling and motion. She finally caught them all and tossed them into a nearby bucket of water. She took a brief bow and then gathered up her things and exited the stage.

RP of Talent: He would normally never, ever do this. He would normally never call attention to himself like this- attention was for his siblings, who were real actors and performers. But this was such a rare occurrence, and it wasn’t like a talent show was a real performance in the way that a concert or a play was… surely nobody would get mad at him.

Actually, most definitely nobody would get mad at him. Nobody made him stay behind the scenes. He liked it, it’s where his skills were best used, and if he’d wanted to perform then he could. But he’d never… wanted. To perform.

Mr. Subrosa was shy. But maybe, just for a talent show, a little talent show… maybe he could pull it off.

It had started with handing off props with maybe a little more flair and panache than was strictly necessary, but sometimes when a play was going well, management was boring. Sometimes he needed to make things a little more interesting. Then he’d found that book on stage magic, and well… he was a natural, it turned out. He was naturally kind of quiet, so when he pulled off a trick, the misdirection was flawless because nobody knew what they were supposed to be looking for. He’d started with basic tricks, then let them escalate into elaborate illusions with fire and glitter and sequins— and then in the middle, himself, an unassuming man in slightly ill-fitting top hat and tails, uncomfortable with being visible and yet craving the spotlight.

And that night on the beachside stage, he was going to shine. He was pulling out all the stops. The Disappearing Capybara, the Man to Fish, the Fire From Heaven, the Illusionist’s Nightmare, one right after the other. He was almost manic, showing off his skills; he wanted everyone to see just what he was truly capable of. He wanted them to like him. He wanted them to be dazzled. It was just for tonight. Tomorrow he would go back to his comfortable world, a world of pulling strings backstage and pulling off miracles that nobody saw. Tomorrow, he would go back to supporting the illusion. But tonight? Tonight he was a star.
