───※ Introduction
It was that time again, and Born of Death was as eager as ever to jump into the festivities of the Winter Market. Like the year before, they and Death Take Me had decided they'd resurrect the berry shooting range they'd set up the year before, this time with the help of some of their kids!
So, they'd found the rock wall they'd set up shop at the year before. There were leaves with crude pictures painted on them affixed to the rocks, and at the other end of the clearing rudimentary sling shooters had been sunk into the ground, woven baskets overflowing with berries resting beside each.
The goal? Shoot the berries at the leaves, and try to win a prize!

Rp response: Guardian of Souls was new to this whole thing. Winter Market that is. So far, from what she'd seen, it was a type of thing in which other's gave back. Could be kind words, prizes, or games. As she wandered by, the sound of berries splattering against a backdrop caught her attention. Moving closer she saw that it was a shooting based contest. Aiming for specific spots on a a wall to earn the most points possible. Cocking her head slightly she peered at the booth and then around, "This is a fascinating game." She wasn't really saying it to anyone in particular, but she was curious by it. The idea of aiming was foreign to her, she hadn't really tried to shoot things at anything before now.
Aiming she took a breath and relaxed, she had never attempted this before so she wasn't expecting she'd do fairly well. Her mark came up short, nothing she didn't expect. Looking at the targets she aimed a little higher than she had before and the berry smacked against one with a small paw print. Oh! Giving a small smile she took one last aim and it was another x. Ah well, one out of three wasn't a total loss! Setting the object down she looked around to see if the hosts were nearby. She was curious how they came up with the idea of shooting berries at something for fun.
She as happy to see other's partaking in the game as well. Deciding to watch as other's played she wondered if others were just as terrible of a shot as she was.

Rp response: Starving was absolutely delighted at the warm weather for the time of year, as well as all the kin coming to her neck of the woods. She'd not seen this many kin in one place outside of a tribe before. Ever eager to mingle and learn names, she strolled up to one of the booths that looked like it had a pretty straightforward concept: shoot the berries at the targets.
"I'll give it a try," she said to the two booth runners, a pair of kimeti and zikwa who were a bit covered in berry juice. Stepping up to the sling shots, she loaded a berry into the pouch and pulled back, aiming a bit as she held her position. A moment later and - thwap - one of the leaves with a large paw print was stained red with the berry juice.
Starving lined up a second shot, taking her time to aim again, and came away with a target hit on one of the small paw prints. Two for two! Again, she loaded the sling shot with a berry and took aim at another target, ready to make it three for three. A few moments later and another small paw print was dripping with blue juice this time. Not too shabby for her first attempt. Pleased with herself, she sauntered off after a quick 'thanks, you'll see me again~' to the two running the station. Maybe next time she'd be a bit more chatty now that she knew how the game worked.

Rp response: The Winter Market buzzed with excitement. Through the laughter and shouts of joy, a familiar figure emerged. Grained Melon was eager as ever to dive into the festivities, relishing the scent of pine and spiced treats that filled the air. The Winter Market had become a cherished tradition, a place where the kin came together to celebrate the season, despite the chill nipping at their noses but this year everything was new, the air wasn't cold it was more like a warm summer.
Melon looked at the stands and saw something familiar.. a berry shooting range. The walls looked even better then last year. “Alright, everyone! Who’s ready to shoot some berries?” he heard the kin next to the stand calling out, sounding enthusiastically. That must be Born of Death. A chorus of cheers erupted in response, the kin shrieking with joy as they scrambled to pick their favorites from the baskets.
Melon was a particulary curious buck, ofc he joined the crowd, enchanted by the buzz of the market. “Will you let me give it a try?” Melon approached Born of Death, his large eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Born of Death smiled. “Of course! Just follow our lead!”
The other kin gathered around Melon, their laughter infectious. The excitement in their voices added to the lively atmosphere.
“Just throw it!” one of the kin exclaimed, while another explained, “Aim for the little leaf with the funny paw on it!”
Melon’s heart raced with anticipation. He took careful aim at the nearest leaf. His hooves trembled slightly, but with the encouragement of her new friends, he trow the berry. It sailed through the air with surprising accuracy before splattering against the leaf with a cheerful squish.
“Oh! I did it!” Melon squealed in delight, his tail wagging with joy.
“Good job!” the others cheered, and Melon couldn’t contain his excitement. One by one, he launched berry after berry, each blast accompanied by shouts of encouragement and jubilant laughter. He was having the time of his life, every hit rewarded with stomps and cheers, while every miss invoked lighthearted giggles.
As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, casting a golden hue over the festivities, Melon felt warm and joyful. The laughter of his new friends and the cheers of the market filled his heart, reminding him of the magic found in friendship and shared experiences.
And as the lights of the Winter Market twinkled to life around them, Melon felt a spark of happiness that would light him up all winter long. He’d not only found joy in shooting berries but also a community that welcomed him. It was a day he would remember fondly, the day he became a part of something special, celebrating the Winter Market with but a handful of berries and a whole lot of love.

Rp response: Eternal Night decided to come and explore the Winter Market. As she wandered, pondering if there was anything she might want to bring home for Mother, or her sister, when she noticed a booth with kin shooting... Berries at a rock? She stopped and stared for a long moment before she figured out what was going on... And decided it looked rather fun! She trotted over, eagerly, and waited for a chance to go. When she got up to a shooter, she examined the situation, before loading her first berry into a shooter. She worked hard, trying to line up her shot. She found the shooters a little odd, but she thought she could manage this, despite it being so very unfamiliar to her.
She bit the band, pulling it back until she felt it hitting full tension... And let go. She watched, her ears up with eagerness, and her tail entirely still in her focus, before she began to dance in place for a moment, proud of herself for having succeeded... And succeeded truly well. A Big Paw print? That was ever so exciting! She took a moment to try to calm herself, before loading her next berry. She thought she had not caused the shooter to move at all when she shot, so she figured she did not have to re-adjust it to get the same target. She pulled it back again, and watched it's arc... And made a disappointed sound to realize she had messed this one up despite her thoughts. She made a few soft huffing sounds, before she adjusted the shooter this time, loaded up her final berry, and pulling it back one last time.
And it hit this time! Perhaps only a small print, yes, but still! Success. She beamed around at everyone, before moving out of the path of the next player, just pleased by the game over all. Maybe she'd be back to try again later.

Rp response: This was something familiar. Unlife remembered participating this booth from last year. The launching contraptions, the stains from....something...berries! Yes. They were launching berries. She giggled breathily remembering the chaotic trajectories of last year and the berry-stained kin that left. She looked around the booth, the two that owned it was the same. The crowd launching the chaotic fruit and laughing was the same. It still felt different, though, and she couldn't quite place why. The frustration written in the agitated twitch of her tail and a constant twitch of her cheek.
She shook herself, attempting to dislodge the feeling, before she made her way back over to the sling device and loaded the first berry. She let if fly, but it swing wide and missed its target to land wherever it may. She frowned after it, slightly disappointed but missing wasn't unexpected. The second was loaded and launched, and also missed. This time her loss was met with a loud huff and a frustrated stomp of a hoof. She stared out at the targets, wondering if they moved away on purpose. With a glare, she loaded her last berry and pulled a little farther than the first attempts. She let if fly with a growl and smiled triumphantly when she heard the satisfying gory squish of it hitting true and bursting. With a trumpet and a sideways skip, her usually dull eyes had a small shine of excitement, though she herself couldn't quite name the feeling. She certainly wanted to try that again.

When Guardian of Souls stepped back from the berry shooters she might not have noticed the young doe watching her keenly from the sidelines, but as the soft tan kimeti lingered, it'd be hard to miss Sweet Hereafter moving in closer from the side, with her bright coloring and long, sweeping tail. "It's tricky, isn't it?" She asked out of the blue, head tilting with her curiosity.
Most of her family was lounging off to the side, it was early yet, and not everyone was so comfortable being social.
A bright little foxbun hopped up and settled itself between Sweet Hereafter's legs, looking up at Sweet before turning her gaze on the other doe instead.

It was early yet, but already they could hear kin approaching to try their luck at the range. It made Born smile, and they nuzzled up under Death's cheek before pulling themself away from his warmth or the comforting presence of some of their children milling about as well. They could hear Sweet Hereafter already up and about talking to someone, and Born let out an amused hum as they stretched, whistling softly for Haven to join them as they wandered towards the shooters.
The sound of berries hitting leaves and rocks was now familiar, and Born had well learned to let Haven lead them safely away from the rock face, so their pale sides were as of yet untouched by berry stains.
A growl made their ear twitch and they paused, head turning to better listen for the source. "Everything alright?"

Her attention quickly snapped to the zikwa, her brow furrowing as confusion overpowered frustration and triumph both. They hadn't interacted before. This was new.....wasn't it? She found now she couldn't quite remember. She was wary, but found she was also willing to join in conversation.
"I missed," she said simply. After a possibly too-long pause she added, "Sort of. Im sure they hit something. I didn't miss the third time."
She smiled. At least she thought she did. She wasn't quite practiced in the activity.

Born wouldn't have been able to tell if the doe was smiling or not, but they smiled back regardless, gentle and encouraging. "It's okay, you'll be able to try again." The dainty zikwa stepped in a little closer, but paused as they felt Haven lean heavily against their ankles. The sanddog was on guard, watching the acha doe warily, ears perked and listening. Tense, but not nervous.
With a little hum Born dipped their head, long hair brushing the ground as they lipped gently at Haven's ear, murmuring soft comforts to the dog. When they straightened again, they head tilted gently. "Did you happen to visit here last year as well?"
