Sun-Cursed
The Why
Sun-Cursed has had to live a very restricted life. The pain from being exposed to sunlight forced her into a nocturnal lifestyle that did not come naturally to her. At first, she was always afraid and anxious that she wouldn't have enough time to feed before needing to find shelter. But over time, she learned. She had to if she wanted to survive. She became much more aware of her surroundings, of her circumstances, and of other kin. Despite her limitations, she's managed to live her life, exploring the swamp and befriending other kin with just the occasional mishap of poor timing.
Even if she couldn't get rid of the nagging thought that she was a burden to others, she learned that it was alright to accept a helping hoof now and again. Just because you needed help at some point that didn't mean you would never be able to stand on your own feet. It just took longer for her and there was nothing wrong with that.
Eventually Sun-Cursed grew into herself and learned to accept that there would always be some things out of her control. And while she would never be grateful or happy that the sun would burn her, she could never bring herself to hate the sun. How could she? The radiant halo she was born with would not shine as brightly in the light day as it does in the darkness of night.
And just like her halo, her trials and tribulations would her life and experiences shine.
