[BLESSING] Glinting Like Gold (Rogue x Travels in Circles)

Post by anemosagkelos »

It had not felt real, not until this moment that troubling thoughts began to bloom within her—or was it his? And there were complicated emotions in that, too. Rogue, a twin, who now looked like her brother; strong pangs of missing him rolled over her and then she was pulled under a tidal wave of discontent where questions scratched, staccato and bitter against her skin. Why did you leave me? We were each other's halves? How could you abandon half your soul, half your heart? And she hadn't left, but she was the one who saw him in her reflection now. She wanted to scream, to cry, to beg. She nuzzled herself into Past Lives' river of hair. What would she do if her friend left her, too? She didn't think she could bear it; she wasn't sure she could live.

What if Past Lives died in childbirth? What if she was sickened and forgot who Rogue was? What if, lodged itself in her throat and she felt herself suffocating as streams of tears drifted down her cheeks. She—he, they would be nothing if the children weren't healthy, if Past Lives didn't live. Not when Rogue had found happiness again, awoken from the nightmare of being the last sibling standing alone as the rest migrated away. Quiet, desperate not to wake up the acha and flood her with the horrors that tore her mind asunder, she opened her mouth and pulled in shaking breaths.

"Please, don't take her from me," Rogue whispered into the chilled air as the red and white moth fluttered through the night air.

Travels in Circles had been following the pair for nearly two days, every time he meant to change and offer them a blessing, he'd found himself tugged in another direction. And then he found himself back with them. These two so intrinsically linked, now, that he saw them as one whole.

It had taken him a few more visits before he'd become enthralled with them. The camaraderie, the affection, the teasing. On some level it reminded him of his mother and how he had, unintended, followed her into the Motherfather's arms. He'd never really considered it before, as their paths had been so different, but it had only brought them closer. And though it was not the same, but still similar enough, he wanted these two to be close, forever.

He settled down on the acha's slumbering body, a ghostly stag appearing behind him.

"You two will not be parted, for you shall forever be like the stars in the sea," he intoned in a voice that said it made sense to him and made it all that more perplexing. "Your children shall be healthy and playful, they shall enjoy fun and games and never turn down a friend. They shall love you both and always come home to you."

The stag vanished, but the moth stayed to keep watch as Rogue finally closed her eyes to sleep.
