Wolf By Moonlight had wandered the edges of the Winter Market, peeking into booths and seeing if there was any fine prizes for his beloved Hawk By Daylight.
Nothing really caught his eye, although he had heard a rumor that the rare muskies might appear before the booths shut for the year. He knew Hawkie had always loved their fluffy coats and fine senses.
Seeing an open sign, he went in and asked about a good den for a Muskie! Nodding along, listening carefully, he went back to a fine grove he visited each evening. It had a wonderful view of the rising moon, and had a hill edge that always stayed dry, with a small cave inside. Not big enough for a kin, but perfect for a little muskie. Having been told that a high, dry den was the most important thing - he was grateful he had found one on his wanderings!
He kneeled down and dug out the ground so it was level, and clean. Sniffing around to make sure nothing was hidden or if the den was someones home! Wolf did not want to steal someones home, even for a potential for a new friend for himself and Hawkie.
Pondering on comfort, he went to some fine willow trees and selected some long fronds, chewing them free. Kneeling back down, he arranged them within the den to make a bit of a comfy nest. Still making sure it was dry, and no bugs or other little friends!
He went trotting to Hawkie, bringing her to look it over. She loved the idea, and agreed such a new friend would be perfect. They went back to the booth together, to look over the muskies and welcome them to the swamp.
Whether they went home with them, or not, they hoped they all found happy and warm homes!
