Your One and Only tilted her chin up as she continued passed the crowd of spectators. There were effigies made of wood scattered about the grounds and those were a much fairer foe for her slight frame and her inexperience. She could excel at being cold, at being flirtatious, at being manipulative, but fighting was not something she had ever taken a moment to consider. It was beneath her and still it chaffed at her, this idea that she would ever be considered less.
But if someone were to see her?
That could only be allowed to happen if she knew she would win, even against a fake kin made of wood.
In the darkness, without light, she might be unrecognizable, but no part of her was willing to take such a chance. The doe sauntered into the darkness, away from the glow and waited for her senses to adjust back to surroundings that mimicked the caves she had begun life in. She let the black of night envelope her as she searched for a disguise that would make her unknown. With no sun it did not have to be extravagant or even good, and indeed it wasn't as she found a place of mud that easily coated over her entire body.
Dark as night herself now and caked in mud, she returned to the wooden kin that awaited an opponent. It no longer mattered how she did, now, for no one would recognize her. She was a doe that was impeccable in grooming and would have never allowed herself to reach such a state normally. Beneath the shroud, she smiled and selected a dummy to ruin whether in victory or defeat.
