[b] New horizons (Cave Glow & ???)

Post by Beejoux »

It was a delicate sort of situation Cave Glow found herself in. One thing had led to another, as they do, and weeks later she was surprised (and not) to find she was expecting. That was how those things went, after all.

So now, faced with challenges she'd not had to consider before, the quiet doe had sought advice from those she knew, next steps and what to expect. Many had told her to seek out those touched by the Motherfather, that they could bless the babes growing inside her. It seemed like a good idea, but she wasn't sure where to start, and being told they would find her was quite cryptic.

Dubious, she wandered through the swamp anyways. Either she found what she was looking for, or she went home having just had a pleasant walk through the trees.

Half Truth felt the wanderer long before she saw her. She'd been wandering, too– not aimlessly, as the gathered herbs she carried and the vine twined 'round her horns evidenced. But there were many purposes for a walk in the woods, and the botanicals she gathered weren't tonight's main feature. The clink of crystal, the glow of a bright blue eye; she wasn't alone in these woods.

Neither was the wanderer. She carried something- someone- someones with her. This was why she was here, probably. (The possibility that she was just wandering was also valid; pregnant does had strange whims sometimes, and if their hooves carried them towards cravings, then so be it.)

She intentionally snapped twigs as she approached, not wanting to startle the doe too much. "Did I find you, or did you find me? And, more importantly, were you looking?"

The snap of twigs alerted Glow to the presence of another, and she paused in her wanderings, head up and ears perked to listen. She turned to head in the direction the sounds were coming from, caught sight of the green and yellow doe moving through the trees before the voice carried back to her. Glow inclined her head politely, looking up at the other quietly for a moment.

"Perhaps a little of both," she answered after a moment to consider, tail flicking gently from side to side. she noted the herbs, the coil of vine, and she wondered briefly if perhaps she was disturbing the other doe. "Though I was looking, yes."

"They say seek and you'll find- but in your case, you weren't alone to begin with!" Half Truth knew- she always did. She'd often wondered if it was obvious to other kin, who hadn't been awakened by the Motherfather, or if she'd just never noticed before because she'd been so self-absorbed. Either way, the doe was, to her, obviously pregnant. "First time, is it? Or have you walked together before?"

That otherworldly insight was still unnerving, but it never ceased to be impressive. Cage Glow inclined her head with a small smile. "No, not alone." It was the whole reason she was wandering.

"And correct again, this is my first." She hasn't known what to expect when she realized, but her experience so far has been relatively mild. Early yet, though. Agreed heard plenty of stories, good and bad, of what other kin had gone through. It left her nervous but excited.
