[ORP]Winding's Wanderings

Post by seru_ame »

Days had come and gone. Peacefully enough, save for the incessant sensation that Winding was meant to be wandering. The phantom sensation of some need unmet. So she had risen. She had left her cozy den with the other Zikwa in her tribe with murmured good-byes and fond farewells, laden with loosely woven roots and well-wishes.

The tunnels had taken Winding away from the roots of the mountains. There was an echo of pawpads behind her, lock-step with her. Then the brush of cool fur and sleek muscle beneath her chest, between her forelegs. Slender legs and a long tail as her life-long companion trotted ahead. Fragile brought the occasional vole to share with Winding, then meandered off until the zikwa grew tired. They did not keep count of the days, only noting that the nights were filled with Winding's restless rolling.

Finally, the scent in the tunnels went from the dry, to cool, damp. Sweet. This was the place. Fragile roamed less, and, soon, the pair found themselves traveling upwards, towards the surface. They emerged in the midst of the night- far gentler on the small eyes of the zikwa, on her paler skin patches. Here, was strange. Vibrantly green. Thick growth and soft grass, but wet. Their hooves sank in some as they nervously stepped out. The needy, incessant sensation had dulled.

But why?
