Beetles
As of now, there are two kinds of beetles: ladybugs and stags. All beetles on the familiar lineart may be considered a member of the same species/group of interfertile species.

LADYBUGS: Beetles that do not sport a horn of any kind are often called ladybugs! This is from an erroneous superstition that stag beetles are all male, and ladybugs are all female. They are sturdy enough to withstand being accidentally stepped-on, and can even mess up a kin's footing by moving from under their leg. They will eat vegetation, meat, other insects, and debris found in their owner's fur.

STAGS: The sturdier, slightly more aggressive type of beetles, stags can often be seen using their horns to flip or fling obstacles in their way (including other beetles)!

BREEDING: Two ladybugs have a 10% chance of randomly producing stag beetles! A ladybug and a stag beetle have a 50% chance of their offspring being stag beetles, and two stag beetles have a 100% chance of producing stags. Permission is not required to breed beetles of any kind!

EDITS: Edits are freely available on beetles, and may pass on to offspring at colorist discretion.

LEGENDARY ALT FORMS: Wide open! Feel free to be a tiny indestructibug!

Dragons
As of now, there are two types of dragons established in the swamp: fairy dragons and leatherwing dragons. No kin may own more than one type of dragon, and edited dragons will almost always be ostracized or attacked by other dragon types (see the Edits section for more information).

All dragons sport the ability to glow, and spit a glowing, psychoactive substance artfully known as "fairy fire", or more accurately, "mushroom spit". This is a psychoactive substance that, on contact, causes lethargy, a "cool burning" sensation, and if it comes in contact with the eyes or mouth, hallucinations. They shed their skin twice a year. In the weeks leading up to the shed, fairy dragons will stop flying, often seeking out sources of salt and licking and rubbing them over the wings, helping to stiffen the outer layer of the sheds so they come off in large pieces. If a kin helps, these wing-sheds can even be taken off whole.

LEATHERWING DRAGONS: These dragons sport more traditionally bat- or lizardlike leather skin, and their shedding is more akin to that of a traditional snake's or lizards.

BREEDING: Dragons of all types may breed together, as their normally xenophobic rivalries escalate into dramatic mating behaviours.

EDITS: As edited familiars become available, the following rules apply: Dragons with 'new' or 'mutation'-style edits will be ostracized by other dragons, and cannot be safely homed to kin who own other dragon types. The exceptions to this are scarring, amputation, and accessory edits- ones that do not 'modify' what the dragon's type may be perceived as. Fairy dragons will not ostracize another fairy dragon for having lost a part of an antenna or for being willing to have flowers tied into its tail, but a dragon with feathers growing from its body would be seen as a threat and chased off.

PERMISSION: All you need to do to get permission for a dragon is post in this thread, mentioning you've read and understand the post! <3

Muskies
Originating from plains and dry forests, muskies have begun to expand their reaches into the desert, foothills and the swamp! There is one type of muskie, though they are sexually dimorphic: adult male muskies sport luxurious manes!

FEMALE MUSKIES: The easier to tame of the two by far, female muskies are known as vixens and live a nomadic lifestyle, moving around on a day-to-day basis. They may form small packs, and rear their pups from birth to adulthood, giving birth in litters of around 3 pups and nursing them until they're old enough to leave their birth-dens.

MALE MUSKIES: Territorial and responsible for making a suitable place for their young to live out their most vulnerable of days, a male muskie, or muskie hound, will spend his days working on digging a den in dry, elevated dirt, and patrolling and hunting on his territory. Given the topography and flooding common in the swamp, there are fewer areas suitable for nesting than in other climates, making for many fewer of the males than there are females.

HOMING: Due to the unsuitability of the swampy climate, male muskies are far likelier to leave the swamp to seek out better land than they are to stay, unless they have the help of kin to flourish. Male muskies will only bond to kin who spend most of their days living in a specific parcel of land or territory. A muskie must be bonded to a single kin, though they may often be friendly to whole families, or even tribes.

PERMISSION: Male muskies MUST be homed to a kin that doesn't travel often, and has a specific home or territory where they spend most of their days. Furthermore, the owner must have roleplayed with a member of, or be a member of, the following tribes: The Very Best, Seekers of Beauty. You may request your tribe be added provided a male muskie lives in their tribelands and is owned by a member prominent member of their tribe.

BREEDING: Muskie breedings producing only females may be done at any time without permission. If you wish for a chance of male pups, they will appear at a 1/3 chance in the clutch, and the owner of who they are homed to must post in this thread.
