the pink-white blossoms and the cloud of flies,
          the passing spring breeze, the summer sun and
   a promise;
a single night untethered by dreams;

a sweet sleep. a ceaseless night.
the world without change.
is this what you wished for? upon
that blossom?

oh dreamer, awake! awake!

you can have everything you ever wanted
but for the cost : you shall never hold your own heart

In the darkness, below the surface of the water, she woke.
Not a single light, not a single wave. But for the ripples,
and the current at her ankles, her waking world was no different
from the sleeping night. For she lay adrift in a sunless sea.

deeper, deeper, down, further,
and deeper still. below the soil
from whence flowers bloom.
deeper, darker, further, down,
below where the roots tangle,
and still further - beyond rock and
river and water, into the darkness
and beyond.

i am the broad tree beneath which you find sanctuary,
standing against wind and drought, look, here, ever guarding

the dry and barren soil which can hold no water
no life will rise from this earth - that is which i am

The wound is seven days old. It is a ring of yellow-purple-green. All red has faded,
now there is only - the bone, white and the flesh, molting. The fever is set; it cannot
be driven away henceforth. There is the pain, dull and throbbing, and the delirious dreams
only grow stronger. The heart is beating out of rhythm and the breaths are slowing, shallow,
uneven. Oh, then, is this death? But the wound had been small. Hadn't even merited
attention. In the dream there is a voice, his?, Never forget the smallest scratch can kill.

never forgot this truth : you are forever responsible for that which you have tamed
