Hello this is going to be A HUGE MESS for a bit but I need somewhere to save my forms so. Organization TBD. I save approved pairing ideas on my Discord server, this is just for keeping forms to rotate in and out of threads right now.

Roleplaying / [B] A Soft Heart (Lamb's Ear & Meets-the-Sea)
« on: March 23, 2021, 08:48:44 PM »

The acha was sleeping softly when the crane appeared, alighting on the raised arch of a nearby mangrove root. The little doe was clearly pregnant -- clearly, at least, to the crane's eyes, though perhaps not yet to others. [WIPPP]

Roleplaying / [PRP] Friends to the Animals (Thoushalt & Little Voices)
« on: March 15, 2021, 09:48:58 PM »

If anyone were to stumble upon the copse of trees, the first thing they would hear might be the soft scuffling of padded feet and the whimpering of an injured animal. The second thing they would hear, if they ventured closer, would be the soft but anxious muttering of a kimeti voice, pleading -- arguing? -- with, apparently, himself.

"Proud, I can't very well help you if you won't stay still," Thoushalt begged, half worried and half annoyed at the eaglehound who lay propped at his feet, her front paws scrambling at the ground whenever the buck leaned closer to examine her hind leg, twisted unnaturally beneath her. The hound had fallen through a hole between the roots of a mangrove tree and injured herself, and Thou had only managed to lift her gently from the crevasse and lay her on her side before she started whimpering in pain. The leg did not look good -- it wasn't bleeding or torn, but surely it was not supposed to bend that way.

"I'm not going to stay still if you keep battering at me with your clumsy hooves!" Proudmouth snapped, in what to Thou's ears were words but to any others would sound like the nervous bark of an injured dog. "You're no healer, you don't know what you're doing!"

Quote from: MikaMoo
It was a very nice day -- bright and clear and warm. Floating Leaf had wandered from home to enjoy it, and had been finding patches of sunlight as she could -- it was a good day to be warm, she had decided -- but somewhere along the line she bad felt a drop of water. She'd thought maybe she was just crazy at first, but felt a second drop quick after. She looked up and determined that the drops of water must be coming from the trees above, somehow. After the tenth or so drop, however, when she was no longer under the same tree and the time between each drop seemed to be lessening, she began to think that perhaps it was something more than wet tree leaves.

Looking up, Leaf still couldn't see any clouds, but a few big drops of water succeeded in finding her left cheek, her right cheek-bone, her nose, and her left eyebrow before she finally lowered her face and decided to seek shelter. She found a tree with some fairly far-reaching branches and found some shelter beneath the boughs, watching the drops of water fall when she could catch their white streaks against the lush background, ripples rolling over the once-stagnant water at her feet.

"How odd..." she mused quietly to herself. She craned her neck to look out again, a drop landing right atop her nose and startling her back to seek shelter again, leaning against the trunk of the tree now. She had never seen a rain-shower in the sun before... It perhaps wouldn't be all that surprising to someone else, but for her it was an entirely new experience, and she wasn't exactly sure how to react to it. For now, she was watching the startling circumstance, and trying to figure out (from beneath the branches and leaves) where exactly the raindrops were coming from...

big wip

posts here are potentials, not sure who we're going for yet

It was not usually a hard task to find Seafoam Voices, being the only acha in their little tribe, and certainly the only one who had the spirit to sing so beautifully. The rest of the tribe -- her children, mostly, Meets noted with a slight twinge of regret -- were stubborn, determined, goal-driven, power-hungry, or quiet and solitary. She loved them all -- but perhaps she had not been the best mother she could be to them.

Seafoam Voices, however, was going to be a fabulous mother. Watching the little acha dance her way out onto patrol with Shortened Way these past few months, full of that excited delight with life which seemed to infect all acha but doing her best to restrain herself in deference to Shortened Way's own quiet temperament, brought a simple pure joy to Meets-the-Sea's heart. Although she prided herself on being able to see more than meets the eye, she would not have predicted this coupling -- but the acha brought out an inner sweetness in her son that had been long hidden, one that clearly made him happier than he had been in a good while. She had even seen what could almost be described as a smile on the solemn buck's face the other day!

Yes, Seafoam Voices would make an excellent mother, and Shortened Way -- with her influence -- would certainly prove a caring father. And a few young ones would bring new life to the tribe that was sorely needed. Now she simply needed to find Voices and bestow on her a very heartfelt blessing.

art by space crawfish

Very much in progress and likely very out of date.
Bear with me as I try to remember who all my kin are.  :reallyshocked:
Here's the link to my very ancient gaia journal in the meantime.
Also my old gaia pairing thread in case that is useful somehow.

Introduce Yourself / The return of Hybridic
« on: March 05, 2021, 11:37:07 PM »
Hello all! My name is Harper and I go by hybridic/harpbrarian online, depending on where you find me. I joined Matope on Gaia way back in...2010, I think? And was around for a long time until life sucked me away. I have reappeared semi-anually for a while, usually when I get bored and stir-crazy in the midst of Maine winter, but always seem to disappear again.  :notamused: Excited to see this forum site separate from Gaia, and now that I am on Discord much more because of that virtual work-life balance, I'm hoping I'll be able to stick around more consistently -- though I will probably not be able to keep up with RP and everything the way I used to in the glory days, hah.

For those of you who don't know me already, I am a nonbinary trans person and I use he/him & they/them pronouns. I am a teen librarian at a public library in Maine, a member of the North Star YA Award selection committee, and I write audiobook reviews for Audiofile Magazine ... all of which is to say, I read a lot of books. :D  My partner is, in the strangest coincidence of my life, also named Harper, which is how we were introduced -- and now have been together for over 10 years! We bought our first house in March of 2020 and moved in literally the DAY before COVID quarantines started in our state. We also just got married in a very impromptu and semi-secret ceremony during our 10 year anniversary "party" (immediate family) this past summer. We have two cats, named Wyatt and Valhalla.

Most of my interests tend toward librarian-y things and I am an avid reader, especially of sci-fi/fantasy and speculative fiction, and of course a huge amount of Young Adult fic as well. I used to be a big knitter, though carpal tunnel issues have made me less able to do that consistently in recent years, and I like to make collages with weird old discarded book imagery. I enjoy video games but mostly just play Elder Scrolls Online recently.

Most of my online presence is book & library related, but if you are interested, I can be found at:
