Roleplaying / [B] New Horizons [Seaglow x Watch] <GAIA TRANSFER>
« on: February 26, 2021, 08:27:36 PM »
Quote from: .Tortured. .Pumpkin.
Glowing orange eyes examined the marsh in which the Kimeti was standing. He had expected to meet someone here, but she hadn't shown. She was a somewhat new acquaintance, but a kind one. Smart, reliable, more than friendly. Seaglow furrowed his brow, wondering what may have kept the other kin.
He looked to the sky. The clouds obscured the bright orb above, but its general placement was easy enough to pick out. Yes, she was quite late indeed. They'd always met at the same time, in the same place. It had become as predictable as the seasons, he thought. The dark male sighed. Perhaps she'd grown bored of their little arrangement. What a shame. Just in case, though, he began breaking the branches from a nearby bush, piling them where he had stood. He didn't want her to think he'd abandoned her if she did decide to show.

Quote from: Magician Arcana
Bloom was young, naive, and scared. She didn't understand how she had come to fall for a buck, and now... She shifted, feeling the burden of growing life inside of her stomach. It happened in a flash, the two meeting in the cold of day and warming each other at night. It was fun and now this? She had yet to tell In the Eye of the Sun. He would be the next to know, after the blessing was received.

Unsure of what to bring, Bloom brought a bundle of hardy berries and three shiny stones. Would these be enough for a blessing? What if they weren't?

Roleplaying / [B] Inner Storm [ Sky Breaker x Watch ] <GAIA REPOST>
« on: February 26, 2021, 08:09:35 PM »
Sky had been running for months. She ran and she ran, tossing her head and stomping her hooves. Emotions tumbled within her like an inner storm, a turmoil of fury, hatred and fear. If she had run into anyone she knew, they probably wouldn't have known the difference from her normal self. She was always angry at someone.

But this time, the someone was herself.

Sky had always done what she wanted, when she wanted, throwing all forms of patience and restraint to the wind. This, of course, included kin of the opposite gender. But this had never happened before. Never.

Sky Breaker was pregnant, she knew this for a fact. She could feel the parasites worming their way around her belly which swelled with their disgusting weight. Her emotions had completely left her, running off on their own in a wild frenzy. This was not what she wanted.

She wanted them out. She wanted them gone. She wanted them dead.

...And yet, why did she still carry them? There were plants and berries, she knew, that could have helped her problem. And so she ran, because she knew not what else to do, her heart screaming for help while her pride shoved everyone away.

@LOLLI qAq and I got a wonderful breeding from Owl and we are very excited to explore this family together with you! Are Too is a burly Kimeti born to a Totoma mother and raised with his Totoma siblings, this silly kin believes himself to be one himself! This little lady made the mistake of encouraging him, and he quickly fell head over heels for her, resulting in these beautiful babies!

ICly Their father, Are Too, believes his two kimeti children are Totoma just like him and he and Stood Long have spent a good bit of their childhood trying to help them earn their names. To enter for the boy above, I'd like you to tell me the story of how they earned their "Totoma" name! Do keep in mind that, while the family may treat the Kimeti as no different than Totoma, they obviously still follow the race rules. They still have naming dreams, their "earned names" will pretty much just be nicknames for them. At the end of the contest, Lolli and I will judge the entries and decide which one we like the most!

This contest will end on the 22nd @ 12AM EST!

Storytelling / What the Raven's Bring
« on: January 09, 2021, 01:04:10 AM »
It was a cold day by Pestilence's pools. Watery winter light filtered down through the trees, leaving soft dapples on the still water. Beneath the surface lay bodies of many shapes and sizes, all in various states of decay. A black buck worked in the dry space between the pools and the cave home he shared with his mate and family. Pestilence hated working in the winter time, as the cold not only makes graves harder to dig, but the cooler water slowed decay, making jobs that would merely take a few days take weeks instead. Normally, Stil was a patient buck. There was no time to rush in work as delicate as his, putting the dead back together took a careful touch, you see, but this week was... particularly nerve-wracking.

Beside the wing-scaled buck lay a colt, bright white and still growing into his gangly limbs. Now Pestilence loved children. He loved this child in particular, not just because Bone Keeper was his nephew but because he looked up to Pestilence in such a way that none of his own children had. He wanted to be a piecemaker, just like his uncle, when he grew up. Pestilence may not have always been the best of kin. But he was good at what he did and the idea of passing that knowledge down filled him with such pride, he thought he would burst. The nerve-wracking part of it was simple, he wasn't a very interesting buck. His job was slow and uneventful, even without the cold hindering his progress. He worried that the colt would become bored with it and rush off to chase a more exciting role in life. And so, as he watched the white colt's attention waver, he felt a bit of panic. What could he do to make this more... fun?

Suddenly, the soft plunk of something solid landing in the dirt drew both of their attention. Between them lay a small bone. The white colt raised an eyebrow and looked up, searching for its origin. From above them in the branches of the trees, a raven croaked and tilted its head, mimicking the young Kimeti.

"Why are there so many ravens around here?" He asked.

"Where death goes, raven's follow. Have you not heard the story, young one?" But Bone Keeper shook his head, "Ah, well, Perish Song would tell it best. I will see what I can remember,"

It all began long ago, back when Death herself walked the earth. She was a beautiful doe, with fur as black as night and eyes the color of blood. Kin of all shapes and kinda came to her from the far reaches of the world so that she may put them to rest.

He noted Bone Keeper's raised eyebrow and felt heat rise into his face. He ran his tongue over his teeth. These words were too sweet, not really to his taste. He'd try again.

Kin do not see death as you and I do. But she did. It was her duty and she was proud of it. But, death takes time. A lot of time. And not many kin had time to wait. It upset Death that she could not possibly tend to them all. So, she asked for help.

"From the ravens?" Bone Keeper asked. Pestilence nodded, "They are excellent finders."

Death saw the potential in the ravens. As carrion eaters, they already knew how to find the dead. Their beaks are meant to strip the meat from the bones. The bones were the most important part. Inside the bones lies the soul. That was how she returned the favor. The ravens would sometimes bring her loose bones, lost limbs or scattered remains. She needed all the pieces. So she gave the loose ones to the ravens. They would crack them with their beaks and release the lost souls into the world. She paid them in the marrow.

Bone Keeper looked up. Pestilence followed his gaze and saw three more ravens circling them. They banked and landed nearby, each one setting down more of the small creature's skeleton, staring at him with their piercing red eyes. He gave a nod of thanks before rising from the ground and disappearing into his cave. The dark buck returned moments later and set down a large bone. He smiled as Bone Keeper watched with awe as the birds went to work with their beaks. Before long the bone was cracked open. He looked at Bone Keeper and said simply,

"And so do I."

Roleplaying / [PRP] All Will Be Well
« on: January 08, 2021, 10:09:57 PM »
**Trigger Warning: This RP discusses the topic of death and suicide, do not read if this makes you uncomfortable**

Mirage dragged herself through the swamp on hooves so heavy she could hardly lift them. Her once beautiful silken fur was no longer that perfectly clean white, but a dull and dirty grey. Like murk water. The myriad of colors that had once made her dazzling and hypnotic to watch had faded and muddied. Once she was a doe one could hardly look away from. Now, as she plodded along through the bone marshes looking like a drowned pelt, most looked away. Her head hung heavy, laden by the large skull she wore. Her back ached from the rough baskets she had slung over her sinking back. Each step stuttered and lagged, but was slowly met by another.

One by one, she would get there. She had to. For him.

It had taken her... well, she wasn't entirely sure how long. Many things fell from that old head of hers nowadays, and time was definitely one of them. So much had changed for her in that time. Once she had been beautiful, but broken. Then she had been broken but still beautiful. Only once in her life had she ever felt whole... She winced and shifted her shoulders to adjust her baggage.

"I'm sorry it has taken this long, my love. Do not worry. All will be well, forgive me, please..." She spoke more to herself than to anyone real anymore.

Finding the MothBorn had proven difficult. Her mind was loose and her body worn. Often, she would forget what she was doing and would wonder, lost, reliving those beautiful days long since past. Back when she was whole. Before her spawn shattered her world. Before her son stole her name.

Who was she? She had been asked this by some buck whose face was painful to look at. But his wounds were nothing compared to those she had inflicted, so she looked on. There was no mask anymore. No longer did she hide behind a bright eyed doe with wiles and charm. There was only ache, rattling around in her empty husk. She didn't know who she was. Only what she had done.

She placed the offerings of bone, seed and wing at the feet of this buck and with a rattling sigh, begged entrance. Forgiveness. Rest.

She didn't remember her being let in, but here she was.

There was a briskness to the wind that sent a chill down Flower's spine. The pale doe blinked her large pale yellow eyes and shook the cold out of her fur. Despite the sounds of birds and insects throughout the swamp, the bite of winter air made her feel even more alone. On earthen hooves, she plodded on with her jaw set. She was fine. She didn't need them. As alone as she might be at least she was free. That itself was worth it.

She was searching for a new home. She had found quite a few places that would have easily sufficed, but they were all too similar to the prison she had once called home. But as the sun sank lower and the mangroves drank up the last of the sunlight held in the water, An Unloved Flower was content with just finding a place to sleep. She spied a thicket well shielded by thick brush. Maybe there was a way in?

The earthy doe circled the area twice before finding a weakness in the wall of branches. She pushed her way in and found herself pleasantly surprised. There was just enough room and the grass here was soft and sweet. Near the back lay a nest of moss and dried grass. Now, most kin would have seen this as what it obviously was; another kin's home. But the Highborn tribe didn't nest this way and she was so tired.

And so, without a second thought, she climbed into to some poor kin's nest and tucked her nose beneath her hoof, trying her best to push away thoughts of home from her sleepy mind.

The tall salt-stained crane was snoozing beak under his wing, his white and blue feathers illuminated by the weakening autumn sun. The air was cool, dry. Perfect for a nice, calming nap. Time flowed strangely when he was in this form, he noted. How long had he been away from his lady Rain? Her cool blue eyes watched him from his dreams. But he couldn't return yet. There was someone looking for him, had been for some time. And now that he was home from his trip to the mountains, he could heed that call.

Or at least, he would. When he woke.

Ascensions / Pestilence
« on: October 13, 2020, 12:05:54 AM »

"They bring me their dead, mostly. Some times, they find us. Others, we find them. The water helps loosen the flesh. The fish and insects clean them naturally. I protect them. Once the bones have been gathered, I take them home. Piece them back together. Make them whole. Putting the broken back together, it's what I was born to do."

A quiet buck who is often too busy working to sit and chew the fat. Pestilence is a piecemaker for a tribe known as the Mothborn. It is there that he has honed his skilled and turned his obsession with bones into something far more beautiful. With his particular set of skills, he takes the bones of the dead and pieces them back together. He believes that this is what is right and by doing so, he is helping those lost souls find their way back to the MotherFather, for those who are buried whole are reincarnated.

His profession has lead him to live a lonely life of one often misjudged. He had a difficult childhood and rarely kept kin close enough to foster much in ways of relationships. He did lay with a doe, who provided him with his first children, unbeknownst to him, two of which have since found him. They all have their place in the Mothborn, Pestilence's true home and only place of acceptance. His mate is Guardian of Life, a doe who cares for the living as earnestly as he does the dead. She is the missing half of his soul and together they work to help kin from birth to death and even after that.

Pestilence would be a symbol of patience, acceptance, reverence, and respect. He would be a Legend of few words, but those words he did give would carry deep wisdom. He would bless for a painless death and an easy passage from this life to the next. He would invoke the memories of their past lives and pray it gives them guidance. He would hope to leave those who have come to him with a sense that, no matter what, they will be cared for, regardless of who they are or were.

As of right now, he would probably take the form of a Giant Moth or a Mongoose.

Here at the Mothborn, the duties of raising of the tribe's young do not follow a strict regime - some foals are communally raised and there is no stigma associated with giving your foal up to be raised by the tribe as a whole. On the other hand, some parents choose to raise their young more directly, which is equally acceptable.

As the young age, they are taught the respect both the living and the dead in many ways. They learn the ways of tending to the wounded, gently lowering those they cannot save into the embrace of the MotherFather. Some are trained to send off the souls of the dead with songs and prayers while others learn to protect and provide for the living. There is a balance that must be kept.

Using the information listed here, please fill out the form below to enter for a chance at these Mothborn kids!
